YOU ARE SIMPLY MAGNIFICENT ^^!!!
I found this one of the most disturbing and heartbreaking scenes in the film. Walter's open vulnerability in that sentence and it's all in *here* too, what was not said aloud but thought and conveyed by Edward's wonderfully painful acting. Walter's sense of inadequacy, his low self-steem, his hopeless acceptance of lacking something the woman he fell in love with demanded from a man to make her the proud and happy wife she, in all her beauty and youth, was supposed to be. Walter's dilemma goes beyond that and you've included it not-so-subtly in this POV: in admitting it's all his fault they are living like that for allowing himself to love her once he doesn't push her away. He APOLOGIZES for what he cannot be, for what he will never be for Kitty.
I wouldn't mind my heart breaking all over again with pieces of fiction like this drabble. Thank you very much for sharing!
