Del Tarrant paused as he caught sight of the imposing granite gates of the Federation Space Academy.
He felt a tingle of excitement, and a smile grew slowly on his impossibly young face. He suppressed an urge to run and jump, to punch the air, knowing that only a calm, confident stride would do justice to his fresh Federation-black cadet’s uniform. At last, he was here! The long hours of study and training had been worth it.
Today he joined an elite class of space pilots. Today he began his journey as a Federation officer. Today, he fulfilled a dream.
