“Renji, there’s no need to be so nervous.” Sanada Genichirou told his friend, frowning a little.

“Are you the one getting married?” Renji asked, taking a deep breath and sitting down in the nearest chair.

Sanada just frowned. He had a girlfriend, but they weren’t quite ready for that plunge just yet. He was surprised that Renji was, but he knew that Renji had been engaged to her since high school, and there was no separating Renji from that girl. “It’s the rest of your life, Renji.” Sanada said, adjusting the ties on his formal kimono.

“It’s what I want.” Renji said, smiling. “When are you and Mika getting married?” He teased, trying to turn the conversation away from his nervousness.

“Never.” Sanada responded, getting even more annoyed at his old friend. “Did you invite that weird friend of yours that went to Seigaku?” He asked, wondering how many annoying people he was going to deal with.

“I had to, Genichirou. He’s dating my sister.” Renji said, trying a quick meditation to calm down everything going on with his body - his mind’s racing, his stomach turning itself into knots, muscles he didn’t know existed were knotting themselves into knots. ”Calm down, Renji. It’s the girl you knew you were meant for. This is just a formality. You’ve been together for years, it’s about time we do this.” Renji breathed, not hearing any of the questions his friend was asking him.

“Renji!” Sanada finally barked, snapping Renji out of his meditation. “It’s time.” He said with a bit of finality.

Renji smiled at his friend. “Thank you.” He said, not knowing how much he had said with those words. Sanada just looked away, and gave Renji a shove towards the rest of his life.

”There is nothing to be nervous about! Why do I feel like I’m about to die? Renji thought to himself. We don’t even really have to be doing this….but it looks like Mother seems happy…not sure about Father….Is Kana crying? Oh for…..Kana, stop that! It’s not like…..Oh….ooooh. I cannot believe that. Sadaharu, I will have to kill you later… Renji’s thoughts were so jumbled up, he could barely contain them, but somehow his calm radiated through to the surface.

Renji had to admit that the western style wedding was as horrible as he had feared it might be. He was a bit disappointed that Yukimura was still in America, and hadn’t been able to come to the wedding, but he understood as well.
Renji was avoiding looking at anyone, but gasped when he saw his almost wife.

A few of the females in the audience smiled when they saw the groom’s reaction, and were amused. Renji’s mother was especially amused and teary eyed.

It was after the ceremony that Renji and Mizu could finally relax. So much had happened that day, but it still had turned out perfectly.

“And now we just need to register this with city hall, and we’re husband and wife.” Renji said as they relaxed in their hotel room for the night.

“We’ve practically been that for a while, dear.” Mizu replied, flopping down.

“But now it’s official.” Renji said, smiling at her, stealing a kiss. Mizu blushed a little. “We have much to do, my dear.” He said, lying down on the bed. “And we have a lifetime to do them together.”
