My muse has returned, hopefully it will stay long enough to finish this... I've written a TON of them at work.

Title: Passage of Time
Fandom: Highlander
Characters: Joe Dawson
Prompt: 17 Brown
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Summary: Joe laments on time passing without his noticing.

Joe pulled the sweater over his head and tugged it into place. Summer had come and turned to fall with him hardly noticing. Were it not for the changes in weather, he might not have. The bleakness of the day outside and the piles of dried brown leaves littering his yard were another testament to the passing of time. He knew he should slow down, maybe even retire, but he couldn't. Demon's haunted MacLeod and kept the Highlander on the move and Joe wasn't ready to abandon his friend. He needed to be there when Duncan was ready to talk.

Title: Family Ties
Fandom: Highlander
Characters: Joe Dawson
Prompt: 027 parents
Word Count: 114
Rating: G
Summary: Joe thinks about his family

The date was circled on his calendar, just like it was every year. His parent's wedding anniversary. They had been gone a long time now but he always took some time for himself and celebrated the couple and their lifelong love affair. Their marriage was the kind that young people should model their after, an almost perfect partnership in a day in age when the man was supposed to 'rule' the roost.

His sister and niece had gone back to Chicago to the old neighborhood when Horton died. He hoped she would start over and find some one to love her like their father loved their mother. She deserved that and so much more.

Title: Past and Present
Fandom: Highlander
Characters: Joe Dawson
Prompt: 032 sunset
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Summary: Joe compares sunsets of the to those now

He'd long since lost count of the number of sunsets and sunrises he'd seen standing on the bridge, looking over where the barge was docked. He'd seen celebrations, lover's quarrels, a funeral of sorts, even challenges from his vantage point. There were times he hated his life as a voyeur. That was then. Now he wouldn't trade the friendships he had with the people from the barge. The barge was gone from its spot now and somehow the sunset was different because he now could enjoy how the colors changed and streaked the sky giving the city a rosy glow.

Title: Waking
Fandom: Highlander
Characters: Joe Dawson
Prompt: 41 Shapes
Word Count: 101
Rating: G
Summary: Joe wake injured and alone
Author's Notes: follows "Judgment Day"

Joe woke to a dark room. Light from glowed from under a closed door casting weird shadows making it hard to determine even the shape of the room. He hurt and a quick run of his hands over his chest and side told him where he was injured. He laughed, 'injured, yeah right, shot was more like it.' He didn't know where he was, or what had happened after the guns started firing, but obviously someone had been there to pull him out, MacLeod most likely. He couldn't help but wonder what happened to the others and how many had survived.

Title: Through Another's Eyes
Fandom: Highlander
Characters: Joe Dawson
Prompt: 042 Triangle
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG
Summary: A look at Duncan and Amanda'a relationship through Joe's eyes.

Joe watched Amanda and Mac and wondered how many women in MacLeod's past knew there was another person in his life, one that he rarely could say no to no matter how much she infuriated him. From what he'd seen and read about the two of them Mac was never unfaithful to the woman he was with when Amanda was around. But the triangle existed never the less. The tension, sexual and otherwise, between them was palatable. He'd always wondered why they never made a go of a long-term relationship, but after he got to know Amanda he knew why.

Title: Wishing Star
Fandom: Highlander
Characters: Joe Dawson
Prompt: 046 Star
Word Count: 110
Rating:G G
Summary: Joe wonders about wishes

Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have this wish I wish tonight' Joe thought of the old rhyme as he looked out over the Seine and saw the one 'star' in the sky. The evening star. He couldn't help but laugh at it all though. The star so many had wished to wasn't even a star. He wondered if their wishes came true or not. He wondered what he would wish for. Maybe that the "game" would be over and the Immortals would call a status quo and he wouldn't have to watch MacLeod lose anymore of his friends.

Title: The Club
Fandom: Highlander
Characters: Joe Dawson
Prompt: 049 club
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Summary: Joe isn't wil about his Paris bar.

"Le Blues Bar" in Paris just didn't have the same ring as Joe's Bar did. The atmosphere wasn't even the same. Then again, his old bar had regulars and down to earth customers who came in for specialty microbrews, good food, and good music. This new bar in Paris wasn't the corner bar where everyone went. It was a "club" and had a "scene" where all the young trendy people came to be seen at the American bar. And he hated it. But as much as he hated it paid the bills for better than his old place used to.

Title: Spirit of the Heart
Fandom: Highlander
Characters: Joe Dawson
Prompt: 051 Water
Word Count: 104
Rating: G
Summary: Joe's tired after a night out with Mac and Methos

Joe eased into the hot tub and positioned himself so the jets hit not only his aching back but his stumps as well. He sighed as the hot water started to work its magic. He should know better then to try to keep up with Mac and Methos. The spirit of the heart is always a lot more willing than the spirit of the body and the older he gets the more he finds the truth in that. The thing is, as long as he was able, he wouldn't stop, he'd just buy stock in Bayer and keep his Jacuzzi in good working order.

Title: Paperwork Blues
Fandom: Highlander
Characters: Joe Dawson
Prompt: 057 Lunch
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Summary:

When his stomach growled for the second time, Joe looked at his watch and realized he'd worked through lunch again. Paperwork was his life, he had journals to keep for the Watchers and records to keep for his various businesses, and he hated it with a passion. He normally did just enough to pay his monthly taxes, payroll, and pay his bills which is why come the first of April every year he locked himself in his office and started to organize his books. He'd have to remember to ask the girls tomorrow to bring food in to him.

Title: No "What Ifs" for Him
Fandom: Highlander
Characters: Joe Dawson
Prompt: 082 If
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG
Summary: Joes doesn't play "What if"

Joe didn't play the "what if" game. He didn't see the purpose of it. You were dealt a lot in life and good or bad it was what you made of it. Playing "what if" only led to fantasies that led to more heartache. Sure he wished he hadn't lost his legs in 'Nam but with prosthetics, he could still walk, hold a woman close and sway to the music. He could still love a woman. He had a good life and good friends he wouldn't have if he hadn't lost his legs and to him that was more important.

Title: His Life
Fandom: Highlander
Characters: Joe Dawson
Prompt: 87 Life
Word Count: 100
Rating:G
Summary: Joe likes his life

One of the new trainees asked him if he enjoyed his life as a Watcher. Joe hadn't hesitated to say yes. It wasn't easy. He would be the first one to admit that. The ordeal with the Tribunal and Horton had tested his loyalty to the organization. It was long hours and sometimes tedious and boring work, especially for the young ones and those new to field work. But yeah, he liked what he did. He liked the direction his life had taken over the last few years and the people in it and wouldn't change a thing about it.
