Title: Into July
Fandom: Prince of Tennis
Characters: Yanagi Renji, Yanagi Mizu, random co-worker of Renji's
Prompt: 014. Green
Word Count:1,802
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Renji tries to deal with his wife's morning sickness and mood swings
Author's Notes: Okay, I have this figured out now, and hope people will keep this in mind for future stories, I have some I'm still going to set back during high school/college/before they're married - So if you see Shindo Mizu in the character list, it's set back then, if you see Yanagi Mizu, it's after they're married, but it's still the same character. ^.^' And yes, there's one scene of sex.. I'm sorry I cannot write this as a linear story. Picking and choosing is more fun. Though the "Mizu's pregnant" arc will be slightly linear.

Yanagi Mizu was miserable at the moment. She was currently bowed over the nearest toilet, apparently losing everything she had ever eaten in her entire lifetime. "Whoever called this 'morning' sickness was never pregnant..." She muttered quietly, feeling the waves of nausea finally pass, flushing the sick down.

Renji was standing in the kitchen, wordlessly holding a glass of water out to her. Mizu rinsed the nasty taste out, then drank from it.

"You're psychic." She said, smiling at her husband.

"It's rather hard not to be when I can hear you being sick." He said, wrapping an arm around her. Mizu shook her head.

"Are you sure you want to go through with this?" Mizu asked quietly, staring down at her still flat stomach.

"Yes." Renji answered, kissing her. "I'm sure it's not as bad as it seems."

"Okay, when you can have a baby, then you can tell me that." Mizu said, snuggling against him anyway. Renji laughed softly, and turned them towards the bedroom.

The next morning Mizu happily fixed breakfast for the two of them.

"Feeling better?" Renji asked, sitting down at the table.

"Not really." She said, setting a plate in front of him. "Still nauseous." Mizu said, sitting down with nothing more than toast and orange juice. "And no, I'm not going to eat more than this. There's not much point in eating if it's just going to come back up." She said before Renji could berate for not eating more.

"I wasn't going to say anything." Renji said, looking rather concerned for her, but feeling a bit guilty. He quietly ate breakfast, and got ready to go to work. He kissed Mizu before leaving. "Take care of yourself." He said quietly, going off to deal with other people's children. Mizu shook her head before having to run to lose her breakfast.

"I hate you, Renji." She said quietly as she paused for a moment before cleaning herself up and getting dressed, heading for her own job. Mizu wasn't sure if she meant that or not as she looked down at herself. "As for you kid, I love you, but I don't love the being sick part."

Mizu was lying down in bed late at night, curled up against her husband, just thinking. Renji blinked an eye open, watching Mizu as she traced patterns onto his bare chest.

"Mizu?" Renji asked softly.

"Didn't mean to wake you." She said softly. "Just thinking."

"About what?" Renji asked, wrapping his arm around Mizu and holding her closer.

"What our child will be like...how we're going to survive this...how I'll probably be the worst mother in the world." She whimpered against his chest.

"Mizu, as long as you love our child, I don't think you're going to be the worst mother. I know you know there's worse people in the world. Mizu, everyday I see children who are ignored at home, practically raising themselves. Yes, I know they're in high school, but some of them still need a parent figure. Or they never had one in the first place. You can't be worse than those parents are because, for one reason, I'm not going to let that happen to our family."

Mizu smiled a little. "You're right." She finally said after a few seconds. "We're not going to let that happen." She leaned up and kissed him, suddenly feeling a bit frisky. "Ren..." Mizu pushed herself against him tightly. Renji smiled.

"Mizu?" He asked. One minute she was depressed, and now she was aroused? Renji blinked, but decided not to argue with that turn of events. It suited him just fine, especially as Mizu's lips were kissing down his chest and her hands were pushing his boxer shorts down, and suddenly her lips were around his cock. "Mizu!" Renji cried out, arching up a little. Mizu looked up at him with a mischievous glint in her eyes as her tongue and mouth worked at his arousal. Renji threaded his fingers through her hair, making sure not to hold her too tightly.

Mizu pulled her head off of him, and slid up his body. "That should be fine." She said, lowering herself on to him, moaning softly as she rode him.

Renji was slightly disappointed, but he knew Mizu would probably never follow through on a blow job ever again. Not after the first one had been...not great for either of them, honestly. Renji made sure his thrusts matched when Mizu slammed down on him, his hands roaming over his wife's body as her hands did much the same. It was amazing how a few minutes could seem like a lifetime Renji thought as he felt himself come.

Mizu slumped against him, very content and satisfied. "I'm sorry." She said quietly.

"For what?" Renji asked, every muscle in his body feeling like jelly at the moment, feeling lucky he could wrap his arms Mizu.

"I shouldn't have woken you up, and we both have to work in the morning." She said, her eyes closing, listening to the beat of Renji's heart.

"Don't be, Mizu. I'm sure we'll be fine tomorrow." Renji said, drifting off again.

A few hours later the alarm clock buzzed and Mizu picked it up and threw it across the room. Renji sighed. "Mizu, we've gone through....too many alarm clocks to count since we've gotten together. You have to stop doing that." He said, sitting up and stretching.

Mizu just curled up. "Too tired." She said, pulling the blanket over her head. Renji shook his head. Another half hour wouldn't hurt he though as he went downstairs and fixed some breakfast for himself and made some toast for Mizu.

"Five...four...three...two...one." Renji counted down under his breath. Right on time, Mizu jumped out of bed and ran for the bathroom, losing last night's dinner. He sighed as he fixed some tea for her, and slipped some bread in the toaster and started that heating.

"I'm going to die." Mizu said, sitting down at the table, looking messy, but still dressed to go into work. Renji rubbed Mizu's shoulders.

"You're not going to die. This is a natural reaction. You're not the first woman to have ever had morning sickness, and I'm sure you won't be the last." Renji reassured her. Mizu turned her head up and glared up at her husband.

"Renji?" She said, her voice in a threatening growl. Renji just waited to see what she had to say. "Go to hell. You're the one that did this to me in the first place! I can't even go two days - no two fucking HOURS without throwing up, and that's all you can say?!" Mizu stood up, pushed Renji away from her, and stormed off out of the house to work.

Renji sighed as he watched Mizu leave, then turned to clean up the kitchen before he left. He knew pregnant women were prone to mood swings - Kana once smacked him upside the head for asking something purely innocent, and she was normally quite calm. He headed out the door himself, hoping Mizu would be in a better mood later.

Renji's day had gone by slowly. He was distracted, and his students could tell. He didn't even bother to assign them any work because Renji wasn't sure he could deal with it right now.

"It sounds like you're going soft, Yanagi-kun." One of the other teachers teased Renji in their work room. Renji looked up from some essays he was grading.

"Ah, Takahashi-sensei. I'm not going soft on them yet, just...a little stressed at home." Renji admitted, slumping down a little.

"We're co-workers now, not teacher and student anymore. Drop the -sensei at least, Yanagi-kun."

Renji smiled a little. "Old habits die hard. Besides, just because I'm a teacher now as well doesn't mean I've stopped learning." Renji sat up straight again, leaning back a little. "Did you need something?"

"Just to know if you're alright." Takahashi said, sitting down at his own desk. "You're a good teacher, but everyone noticed you weren't quite on top of things like usual."

"Ah, just had a spat with my wife this morning." Renji said. "I'm sure things will be fine tonight. And I can go back to torturing the students with homework again tomorrow."

"Good to hear that." Takahashi said, gathering up some papers before standing back up. "Just don't forget that she probably didn't have a good day either. Do something nice for her." He patted Renji on the back as he passed him. Renji nodded, and suddenly was motivated to finish grading the papers in front of him.

Renji was suddenly glad for the fact that he was a teacher. It meant that if he tried, he could get home before Mizu could - and give him plenty of time to cook. He smiled to himself as he lit a candle that he had set on the kitchen table. It wasn't much, but Mizu had a fairly good appetite in the evening, and this was one of her favorites.

Renji was just setting the plates on the table when Mizu walked in, looking very tired.

"Tadaima." Mizu said quietly, stepping out of her dress shoes, hoping that maybe she could avoid Renji.

"Welcome home." Renji said loud enough for her to hear. "Dinner is on the table." He said, meeting Mizu at the door and taking her hand. Mizu blinked. Wasn't he mad at her? Mizu took his hand, feeling slightly confused, and sat down.

"Renji..." Mizu was just amazed to see one of her favorite meals on the table. "How...when..."

"I do get home before you, so I had plenty of time to fix this." Renji said, sitting down as well.

"No, I meant, when did you learn to cook?"

"Mizu, I learned that before I even met you." Renji said, smiling a little as she picked up her chopsticks, quietly said 'itadakimasu' and started eating. Renji echoed the thanks, and started eating as well.

"So you're not mad at me?" Mizu said, once she felt like she was getting full.

"Mizu, I'm not mad. I could never be angry with the mother of my child." Renji leaned closer to her and kissed her. "I know you're going to have mood swings. However, I've lived with you for over five years now, I know how you can be, and I know we'll always make up in the end." Mizu blushed at that, on the verge of tears. She got up, and resituated herself on Renji's lap.

"Do you know how much I love you?" She asked, burying her face in his shoulder.

Renji wrapped his arms around her waist, brushing over where their baby would be growing in the next months. "Right there is the proof of how much I love you." He said quietly.
