Hear Me Out Rob calls Chester’s house and isn’t surprised when he doesn’t get an answer. After all, they’ve all been trying to get in touch with him all week. Except Brad, that is, who is still crashing on Mike’s sofa where he’s been for the past two weeks.
He uses Brad’s key to open the door and heads into the darkness of the house, “Chester? You here?”
He doesn’t get a reply so he heads further in, checking rooms for signs of life. Eventually he finds the singer on the balcony off the master bedroom, staring out over the backyard and chain smoking lazily.
“Hey,” the drummer says, cautiously taking a step closer.
Chester glances up and it breaks Rob’s heart. The dark circles around his eyes make him look sick, and he looks about ready to collapse. He’s lost weight, too, and when he wraps one thin arm around himself, bringing the other up to smoke his cigarette, Rob notices the circle shaped burns on his arms.
Cigarette burns.
“Have you spoken to Brad?” He asks, looking at Rob expectantly.
“No,” Rob lies, “No I haven’t. Let’s go inside, Ches’.”
Chester nods and stubs his cigarette out on the balcony railing before following the drummer inside.
