Summary: Relationships have never been Tony’s forte.
Author's Notes: For some reason, I found this really hard to write, so the end result isn't as I'd hoped it to be, but yeah.
Tony’s relationships don’t last long. One month, maybe two, three of four at the most, then wham!- his beautiful flavor of the month is left on the sidewalk, staring after the tail-end of his ‘stang.
Tony is- alright, he’s superficial. He dates only the most beautiful of women; silky hair, luscious curves, gorgeous bone structure. They may not be the most intelligent of women, they may not understand him, and they definitely don’t give a damn about him, but. But. They’re beautiful, and that’s enough to make Tony fall at their feet.
This time, however, this time it’s different. This time, he hasn’t fallen to his knees for the girl. No, he’s fallen head over heels for her. It’s the first time he’s actually been in love with someone. It’s also the first time that the relationship isn’t based on sex. Rather, he cares so much for this girl that he delays sex, out of fear of losing her.
Relationships have never been Tony’s forte. He’s always picked his partners on appearances alone. But not this time. Not that his girlfriend isn’t beautiful, because she is. But there’s substance to her. She’s smart. Hell, she’s a doctor. Not Tony’s usual type, not blonde or particularly buxom, but she suits Tony, fits with him like pieces of a puzzle.
Tony has been with this wonderful specimen of female for night on a year now. By this time he’s usually gotten through the gloriously sex-filled beginning of the relationship, sailed through the middle of the relationship, still full of sex because he only met the girl a few weeks ago, and passed ‘go’ at the end of the relationship, collecting $200. And, of course, he’s be well into his next relationship. His girlfriend now, she’s outlasted any previous relationships. It’s a good thing, because Tony has never been so happy. He loves her; and she loves him.
It turns out that all Tony needed was a solid relationship to make him happy. He’s settled down. He doesn’t come into work with dark shadows under his eyes from a night full of music and dancing and sex but lacking in sleep. He doesn’t leave his house early, praying that the snoring girl in his bed will be gone by the time that he gets home. He doesn’t creep out of strange homes in the middle of the night and then stand there, lost. Now he knows he always has one of two beds to crawl into, and more often than not, a warmer body to curl against. It’s nice.
Tony’s relationship with Jeanne has far outlasted any relationship he’s had previously. And yet, he has the warm, fuzzy feeling that him and Jeanne? They haven’t even reached the middle of their relationship yet.
