Yamato liked the color green. Not the bright greens, mind you. He liked the subtle grace in darker shades. It reminded him of the forests outside the walls of Konoha. He was genin now. He couldn’t go outside the walls just to ‘commune’ with the trees per se. He needed a concrete ninja reason why he was going. Konoha after all, was in a state of turmoil.
So, hands in the pockets of his forest green jacket, Yamato looked down at the forehead protector tied to his arm. He didn’t feel like wearing it. When he did, people pointed at him and said he looked like the Shodai.
He knew that, of course. He was born a clone. The Shodai… did the Shodai like the color green too? Both of them had Mokuton, as Yamato was going to find out. He halted in mid-step as he passed by a bridge.
A plant. Granted, it was a mere seedling. It was dying too. He could almost see the failing life force. Yamato was crouched in front of it, looking very odd in the busy streets of the village, but he didn't mind.
Yamato scrutinized the plant. It was a dying one. It had yellowed leaves and was drooping. Yamato stared at it for a moment before taking the pot out of the sun and placing it into the shade. He held one of the plant's leaves and concentrated.
Like watching a tree grow, the plant began to turn green. Yamato watched as it spread its flower, a bright red blossom. The genin halted when the plant began to grow more robust. Mustn’t overdo it. Yamato placed that back onto the sunny spot.
Life was the color green.
