I promised to tell everything about Gernot in Elisabeth, but I had to write down something first. It was torturing my mind already since sundaynight and wanted to be written down NOW! So, since it has something to do with the report I still have to write I thought I could share it!
The music filled her ears, but it didn’t enjoy her anymore. Her heartbeat followed the drums and she got a little annoyed by the ten thousandth up-tempo song the DJ was playing this evening. She had tried to make a little dance at the beginning of the evening, but after just two songs her foot gave up and she had to sit down. She didn’t remember anymore why she agreed to come along. It was just a stupid party and before the evening started she already knew that it wasn’t a good idea to come hear. Her friend were having fun, the cute boys were on the dance-floor and she? She was just sitting with a glass of sprite waiting until it would be over.
She sighed and tried to smile a little. Stupid foot, stupid body, stupid party, stupid people. Did they think it was fun to hang around alone and to watch others having fun? Did they think she liked it to have no-one to talk too and to see all the smiling, drunk faces around her? Did they think she liked it that people stared to her and her crutch? Did they think she was just waiting for people feeling sorry for her but ignoring her after all? In case they would care about it: It was no fun at all.
She looked for her friends in the middle of the crowded dance-floor. They were smiling, laughing, drinking and they it seemed as if they totally forgot her. In that case it wouldn’t matter if she went home, would it? Her bike was just outside the building, her house was just twenty minutes away and in her house her bed waited to hold her and her pillows waited to catch her tears. It was more easy to be at home when feeling lonely. If she was at home no-one would see how horrible she felt and how terrible her feeling horrible looked.
She drunk the last sprite in her glass and searched in her bag for the number she needed to get her coat.
“You’re leaving already?” She turned her head when hearing the beautiful singing voice speaking to her. “The party just started!”
She looked into the sea-blue eyes of the pretty boy, sitting next to her. How could she have missed he was sitting over there? So close to her? “Well, I don’t think I should be here, actually.” Her eyes searched for the crutch on the floor and she saw his glance following hers.
“Walking with a crutch is no reason to stay home and miss all the nice stuff in life.”
She laughed and shook her head. “I won’t describe this party as...well...nice...actually.”
He smiled and kept silence for a while. His dark hair looked blonde under the lightnings and his pale skin seemed smoother than glass. Why the hell was this incredibly beautiful boy interested in a disabled girl sitting in the corner of the room all alone drinking sprite?
“Can I help you to make this party a little nicer?”
She laughed again and shrugged. “I don’t think so.”
“Just say what you need, maybe I can do something.”
She shook her head an bit her lip. “You can’t make my foot feel better so I can dance.”
His lips curled into an amused smile and his beautiful blue eyes laughed to her. “Who says your foot should feel better to dance?”
She frowned her eyebrows and sent him a surprised look. “What do you mean?” He raised and took her hand. His skin felt fresh and cool, but he didn’t seem to notice she was sweating. “How can I dance if I can’t even stand?”
His other hand touched her side and he looked into her eyes. “May I?” He didn’t wait for her to answer and she felt his arm around her body lifting her out of her chair.
The boy wasn’t not that much bigger than she was, but it looked as if lifting her didn’t cost him any force at all. “You don’t have to stand on your feet while dancing with me, I promise.” His arm pushed her body against his and while he moved to the dance-floor her feet didn’t even touched the ground, like he promised her. The music changed into a sweet ballad and she closed her eyes and just enjoyed the feeling of dancing. “See? You dance!”
She smiled and lied her head on his shoulder. “I would have never asked for this.” She paused for a while, just enjoying the feeling and the music. “I guess no-one else in this room would have done this for me.” She felt his cheek against hers and felt a tear escaping her eye.
“That’s why I’m here...” He pressed his lips on her cheek to kiss the tear away. “I love making you happy.”
The music changed into a rock-song again and while he carried her back to the chair she opened her eyes. “Thank you!” She felt how his tender arms brought her back where she was before they met each-other. “Thank you so much!” Her body felt warm and satisfied, she couldn’t help but smiling.
“You’re very, very welcome.” He stepped back slowly and their eyes didn’t loose contact until she couldn’t hold them open anymore. In a blink the beautiful boy had disappeared into nothing.
She smiled and sighed at the same time, not knowing if this had been happening for real or was just an imagination. She shrugged. It didn’t matter who or what he was. All that matters was her heart beating from excitement, her body feeling warm of happiness and her evening being saved from being a big disaster. She took her crutch, stood up and got her jacket. She didn’t want to let her evening being ruined by feeling lonely again. She just wanted to remember this one moment, just this one moment.
