MagKnitsModification: I'm doing this using the
toe-up version modified by
Natalia Knits and I'm also using the
Magic Cast-On instead of the provisional cast-on suggested
Do
you remember this JayWalker? After about two months away from it, I
think I'm ready tackle it again. So I cast-on for the umpteenth time.
This time, however, I'm doing the smallest size. I usually do one size
up but as it turned out, it's a bit loose with the Wollmeise. I don't
know why. But now that I'm doing it in the smallest size, it fits
perfectly...not too tight and not too loose. But because of the change
of the number of stitches, the colour pools a bit...but hey, I've
learned to like pooling, especially in Wollmeise. ;-)
And for
the record, I've actually frogged this try once already. That's why I'm
saying that lifeline is my new best friend, because this time, I'm not
going to re-do the whole thing ever again. I inserted a lifeline right
before I started doing the gusset increase.
I had to frog it
because I did something wonky with the heel turn and it didn't turn at
all....seems like I haven't yet really mastered the art of heel from
toe-up. This time when I'm finished with the gusset increase, I'm going
to put the lifeline in again...so that I don't have to re-do the whole
gusset increase should the heel turn fail again.
Blue Moon Fiber Arts "Socks That Rock": Puck's Mischief
Recently, I was asked by
Marmys whether I would like to do a swap with her, since she's been dying to get her hands on some
Wollmeise. And of course, I said yes. ;-) So I sent off a hank of Wollmeise to her....
...and yesterday I received her package with not one, but THREE hanks of absolutely yummy gorgeous yarns!
That's the
Blue Moon Fiber Arts
"Socks that Rock" lightweight in "Puck's Mischief". Oh.My.God! I've
been drooling over that colourway for a couple of days now. You see,
I'm also doing a swap with
Socktopus...and
he said that he could get me some STR. I had been scouring the BMFA
website to see which colourways I would like and the first that really
caught my eyes was "Puck's Mischief". Imagine the delightful surprise I
had when I found that exact colourway in a package!
Yarn Pirate: Blackwater
The second hank is Yarn Pirate's "Blackwater". Peepz, this is Yarn Pirate! The stuff that sends
Bockstark Knits (aka Ms. B) off squealing in delight! And I just got it out of the blue!
In the note that Marmys wrote to me, she said that Georgia (aka the
Yarn Pirate) "named this yarn (and created the colourway) in honour of her late father, so...that makes it extra special." And indeed, it is extra special!
Miss Bab's Hand-dyed Fiber Goods: "Rock Wall"
The last hank is
Miss Babs
"Rock Wall"...and WHOA! This stuff is downright squishy-able soft
goodness! I've never heard about it before...but I'm sure to be on the
look out for that now....and the website's going down in my sidebar.
Marmys sent this hank to me as an extra for the reason of my "just for
being such a sweetie about swapping" with her in the first place. Wow!
That is such a lovely thing to say. *Go Kiwis!* I mean, I didn't even
think twice about it.....I think I have more trust in knitters than
other people. ;-)
Marmys actually said that the Yarn Pirate's "Blackwater" seems to "incorporate a number of [my] favourite colours" (I'm
sorry about using all these quotes, but this is what happens when you
spend your times writing up seminar papers and formally quoting a lot
of texts. It just spills over in my normal writing, too).
Actually, yes, "Blackwater" does incorporate a lot of my fav colours.
However, this doesn't apply only to "Blackwater" but rather to all of
the hanks she sent me! She's got a great eye for the sense of colours
that I have!
Anyhow, now I feel like such a dork for having sent
only one hank of Wollmeise and got three gorgeous hanks back. So, I
went off to find some other stuff for Marmys yesterday. Got a skein of
something already, but I'll go and have a look for one other thing
today. ;-)
Finally, last Saturday I was reading through some blogs when I came to
Wollhuhn's blog. She had a link to an online German Indie Dyer....and of course, I ended up clicking on it....and crashed. It was
Drachenwolle.
Within five minutes or so, I got the order through for four hanks of
sock yarn. I mean, come on! 400 metres of Wool-Silk-Ramie mix for EUR
8.90 each, I just couldn't resist! I just hope that it'd be delivered
today. I was actually expecting it yesterday and already wrote to
Christiane (Wolldrache). She wrote back and got me laughing. The
shipping service she uses is called "Hermes"...and well, she was saying
something along the line that the God must be having "lame wings"
again. *LOL* Well, I'm waiting (im)patiently for the batch to arrive!
;-)
That's all from me for today. Hope you guys are having a great week!
