Better than Flowers
So, yeah, my expedition alone to
IKEA
today was a success. I roughly spent EUR 40 for everything (stuff I
buy, the public transportation to and back, snack/lunch). I'm very
proud of myself.
You can see in the photo here that I got
myself a vase. I had been having this idea for a long time now, but I
didn't have a vase. So, I decided to get one just for this purpose. And
don't you think that it's just soooooooo better than flowers? From now
on, Shernoh's going to have to bring me not bouquets of flowers, but
bouquets of yarns!!! *LOL*
Apart from the vase, I got my
desk lamp replacement as well as one to replaced the
molten lamp from my landlord. Then I got a couple of assorted stuff. I won't tell you what they all are, apart from one....
...it's a plastic box. But we'll come to that in a minute.
Anyway,
I got home and found a small package leaning against my door. Upon
inspection, it said that the package comes from the USA and the content
is yarn. My mind was still blank. Who could possibly be sending me yarn
from the USA out of the blue? I didn't recognise the hand-writing
either.
Upon closer inspection, I found a screaming evidence and had to squeal in utter delight because it's my
Lime & Violet sock yarns!!!
I
bought the yarns last Wednesday, but because I didn't expect them to
arrive so soon, I totally kind of have forgotten about them.
*Squeeeeeeeeee!!!*
Now, things might start to tie in a bit: I
just received new scrumptiously and squishy soft luxurious yummy
delicious yarns, what do I have to do? Take photos and put them up on
Flickr, of course! And in having to do so, I could just try out my new toy that I got from IKEA: The plastic box!!

Yes, look at that? Isn't it gorgeous? Photographed in such professional photo-studio....*NOT* :-p
Yup, the plastic box was bought specifically for this purpose: To make a light box
à la Domesticat. And the thing works perfectly (apart from the fact that my camera can be pretty crappy some times, but I'll get to that soon).
So, yes, that's one hank...and the next:
L&V Sasquatch "Snake-Handler SYD"

Ahhhh...the yarns are so yummy!!!
Wollmeise sock yarn: "Raku-Regenbogen"
Anyway, I just said that my
camera can be crappy. Okay, well, it's great for taking videos, but
it's not good at light-sensitivity at all. The above photos were taken
using natural sunlight that was shining fully on the box. Then there's
this one on the left, which is just taken with the light sources being my two new lamps.
It looks okay and to tell you the truth, I'm very satisfied with it.
However, for this photo, I needed to tweak both my camera settings and
the photos afterwards. But coming to think of it, I always do that with
almost all of my photos anyway. So, yeah, I can say that I'm very happy
with my light box.
So, last thing....I wasn't going to say anything about this, just in case it doesn't take off, but
Bockstark Knits has already made the announcement. So what the heck....
At
the last Stitch 'n Bitch on Sunday, I kind of threw the question to
Bockstark Knits asking whether she'd like to do a podcast with me. She
first reckoned that she'd be too boring for the show but that I should
do it with
Simple is Good....and
so the conversation ensued and now it's going to be the three of us. At
this point, there's nothing concrete yet, but we're brainstorming for
ideas, names, segments, etc. And it really is fun! We want it to be
something fun along the line of
Lime & Violet, but of course, it should not be the same.....
I'm
sure that this will really take place some time in the near future. So
watch out for a new knitting podcast from us crazy knitters in Europe!
;-) If you have any suggestions or ideas, please, leave a comment or
email me!
Well, that's all for now. Have a great week!
Ps.
if any of you start putting your yarns in vases or in some other
thing...but just using yarn as decoration, please tell me! Maybe we
could start a Flickr Group!
