On being anonymously famous

On Wednesday 03rd January 2007 I walked into one of my favourite LYS (and because they're so nice, I'm going to do a little advertisement here. It was "Wollkorb" at Sendlinger Tor) and the first thing the lady at the shop said to me was: "Have you seen the article??!".

"Excuse me? What article?", I asked, pretty much confused.

The lady went on about this newspaper article in the supplement section of one of Germany's national newspaper: The Süddeutsche Zeitung. Apparently, they'd done a little scoop on the new knitting trend that's popping up everywhere, yadda yadda yadda.

The lady went on that they'd taped up the article to the shop's display window for the whole rest of the year (lawdy, I haven't been in there THAT long?)......

Point is, my our little Stitch 'n Bitch group was mentioned in the article.......

.....in fact, I was anonymously mentioned in that article!!!!!

Translation:

"A group of English spoken young people in their early twenties had been meeting up to knit in Munich in a café in Pariser Street in Haidhausen. Particularly and curiously marvelled at by the guests at the café is a young Asian student in a perfectly knitted Tracht-jacket, who expertly masters the art of knitting. Casually on the side, he also teaches his 'table neighbours' how to crochet . This meeting goes by the name of "Stitch 'n Bitch" which translates loosely into German as....."

So, there you have it! I'm kinda famous! *LOL* And the article even mentioned my Janker! So, it seems only appropriate that I should wear it to the group tonight! *hehe*

Anyway, that's my first most exciting experience in 2007! Maybe I should ring up the newspaper's editorial and ask about the person who wrote that little article.....they should do a proper interview with the whole group. I mean, I didn't even know about the article at all...and no names were mentioned, which means that whoever wrote the article was in the café on that one particular day that I actually wore my Janker (no, it's not the same place or day to where I linked to my post above). Would be interesting to see what might come out of it. ;-)
