Well, winter has officially come to CNY. Okay, so it came a few weeks ago, but I didn't have time to blog about it. That and, even though there's been a ton of lake effect snow, most of it has missed my town. While places like Syracuse were getting snow measuring in feet, we'd only gotten a few inches here and there. Until today. Still not a TON of snow, but we've gotten a good 7-8 inches since last night and it's still coming down. I went out and shoveled last night when we had 5 inches and then had to shovel again this morning (while also trying to get T ready for school) because our school district didn't think 8 inches of snow was enough for even a 1 hour delay. :P And now it's snowing even harder so I'm probably going to have to go out and shovel again before I pick him up this afternoon. And I know the roads are going to suck because our town has spent the past 2 years forgetting that plowing often + salt = decent roads.
And this brings me to the "my basement is a jerk" part. After all the shoveling I had to do last winter because our snow blower was broken and I'm the one who leaves the house first so that lovely task always falls to me, my husband promised we could use our tax return money for a new snow blower. This was back in March. Not even a week after he made that promise, we found the basement filled with 4 inches of sewage and discovered a gaping hole in the pipes resulting in the need to replace all our sewer pipes in the basement. Guess where the money to do that came from? That's right. My snow blower money.
So here I am, once again, shoveling snow off my long driveway. Each time I do, all I can think about is how much of a jerk my basement is. I wish I could make the basement go out and shovel for me, but seeing how it doesn't have arms or legs, that's not gonna happen. So instead, I sit here wishing it all manner of (non-money costing) evil and have resorted to petty name calling.
