Truth be told, Ellie hadn't even noticed that no one was talking. She'd been stargazing the night before on the roof. From the west, but not very far to the west, there was a low rustling, as of something brushing past the decorative bushes beside the park benches.

Ellie was completely lost in her observation, looking at the thousands of stars and wondering how many of them had life. She made a few notations in her note book, then put her eye back to the telescope.

Closer now, the sound, if one were listening to it, became that of uneven footfalls on the path through the park, as if someone were walking with a limp.

Ellie looked up for a moment, thinking she'd heard footsteps. She glanced around and didn't see anyone, so she shrugged and turned her attention back to the stars.
