Pip walked into the Perk and looked around for people talking.

Daisy nodded once at the one-eyed kid and sipped her coffee in silence.

Pip nodded back to Daisy. He mouthed "Can't talk either?"

Pippi flounced in behind Pip and also looked around.

Hey! That's that woman from Caritas!

Pippi waved.

Walter came in and pulled out a piece of paper from his waistcoat upon which he had already written out his order for a large coffee and a chocolate croissant.

While waiting, it was impossible not to notice Pip and Pippi already there.

Maybe they'd buy laryngitis.

Pip waved to Walter. He searched around for another napkin and, upon discovery, wrote out a note.

Pippi waved Walter over excitedly as Pip wrote.

Walter read Pip's note and tried not to facepalm.

How did you know?

Artie bounded into the Perk for a chocolate milk, the ordering of which required several bizarre handmovements which, somehow, the clerk seemed to understand.

He posed while he waited and waved cheerfully at the students, despite the very large lamp tucked under his arm.

Artie held out the lamp towards Walter and pointed from it to him with his eyebrows raised.

Walter raised his eyebrows and shook his head to indicate his lack of understanding.

The Doctor burst in the doors of the Perk, as it was the first place he'd thought to go. He held up the metal cylinder he'd grabbed earlier, and pressed it against his throat. An artificial voice box.

"Excuse me, has anyone--" he paused.

"..."

"This thing makes me sound like a Cyberman." He made a revolted face and flung it out the door. He'd have to make do with sign language and gestures.

Daisy looked up from her watch for gravelings at the sound of something speaking. She waved to the Doctor.

The Doctor smiled at Daisy. He mouthed 'You're safe. Fantastic.' He then started his ASL.

Do you know what I'm signing?

Daisy shook her head with a shrug and quickly wrote something down on a post-it note pad.

The entire town seems to have turned into a silent movie.
