Dawn applied more sunscreen to her shoulders and stretched out on her towel with her book. Beach book, check. Bottled water, check. Waves, check.

Buffy'd brought a blanket, which she flopped down on, and the newest issue of InStyle. "Hi Dawn! Did you like the cheering yesterday?"

"You were great," Dawn grinned. "I cheered extra hard." Not that she had any idea who won, but whatever.

"Thanks!" Buffy beamed. It was possible she only had a vague idea who won as well. "It all went pretty well, I think. No monster invasions or anything!"

"Always a sign of a successful cheerleading event," Dawn nodded, digging her toes into the sand. The sad part was that she wasn't even kidding.

Buffy nodded too, agreeing. "You know? Until today I was pretty sure they were joking about it being warm here."

"I know. This having seasons thing takes some getting used to," she said, tying her hair into a ponytail.

"Cold, brr," Buffy said disapprovingly on that topic. "But snow could be cool, I guess? Not during summer though, but maybe on Christmas?"

"Yes, snow on Christmas would be cool. Or, here's something I've heard of--maybe a snow day?"

Buffy blinked. "Huh?"

Dawn sat up excitedly, having heard about them from some of the other slayers. "It's this thing, where they get so much snow that the city cancels class and closes businesses for the day so they can clean up the mess."

"Reaaally?" Buffy's eyes went huge. She tried to imagine it. "That'd have to be, like, a lot of snow."

"No, that's the best part," Dawn bounced a little, "someplace like here, they only need a couple of inches to fall, because they don't usually get it."

"Oooh! That'd be so cool!" Buffy pondered. "I don't know if I'm going to be here during winter though."

"Yeah, me neither," Dawn said. "But where are you going?"

"I don't know, but I just enrolled here for summer camp, you know?"

"Is it what you expected?" Dawn asked.
