The walk down to town from the campsite was nice, though it took longer than he'd expected. Once there, Jaye led the way to the cafe where Alec held the door for her and then followed her inside.

"That wasn't too hard to find," he said, grinning, as they walked up to the counter.

"Nope. And it gets easier with practice," says Jaye. She orders a white chocolate mocha and lets Alec go next.

Alec might have stared at the menu for a moment longer than might have been necessary. He finally ordered the same thing Jaye got, looking the faintest bit embarrassed beneath his curiosity. "Not the kind of coffee I'm used to," he explained.

"There's a different kind?" she asks, and it's a valid question.

"Coffee coffee," he said, grinning. "We don't have mochas or lattes where I come from. Or, hell, shops devoted entirely to coffee." He grabbed both drinks as they came up and gestured for Jaye to take a table.
