Alright, Jono was here. Jono was totally not freaking out in the least. Jono had set up a few mics and patch cables onstage in case anybody showed up and wanted to jam, and ( Read more... )

If you have any questions about what he's trying to accomplish here, or if you've realized that in a last-minute fit of desperate self-doubt he brought beer and you want some.

Anything stronger than beer?

Hopefully you had your phone on you, Jonothon, because on it was a very desperate text message from an old undead friend:

I AM GOING TO BE A GRANDFATHER HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE MY BABY GIRL MY BABY

He was excited and happy, yes, but for a moment, please allow the vampire to freak out.

Well, that was one way to get his attention, right there, Drac.

Congratulations! This is a congratulations thing, isn't it?

Jono didn't have much experience with this sort of thing.

They do grow up eventually, I suppose. I imagine this is a lot to take in, hm?

Jono... would probably never have kids, never mind grandkids, so imagining was basically all he could do, here.

Drac stared at the phone and sighed. It was hard enough when she'd gotten married but now she was going to have her own family.

Its lonely. Drac admitted to his friend. I love her and Jonathan is a good man and I am excited about a grandchild but I am losing my baby girl all over again.

Oh, Dracula. Jonothon winced a little in sympathy. Okay, maybe he could imagine, then.

Will you be able to see them often? I know, it'll never be as often as when she was still little, but... you've raised a child before, after all. They might turn to you a lot for guidance, especially since this is their first.

Oh they live here at the hotel. I expect they will continue to do so. They are making it human friendly. It is strange to have human guests now though.

In fact... Drac took a moment to glare at a footzombie who was carrying a human guest over his shoulder towards the staff entrance. "You're fired." A wave of his hand had the human woman floating away from the pouting zombie and back to the registration desk.

This will always be Mavis' home. I built it for her after all.

I apologize for the sudden contact, but I had to, as Jonathan says, vent. How are you? Is the theatre doing well?

I'll take sudden contact over none at all, don't worry about it, mate. The Boards are doing--

He looked around. Well, they were open! That was... good?

Decently. I'm actually in the middle of auditioning a band, here. Better turnout than I expected. A few of the auditions actually surprised me.

Like the llama with the triangle.

A band?!

"WITHOUT TELLING ME?!"

There was a delay while a tiny war raged in Drac's heart.

That's great! I suppose you have many talented singers to go with that.

That was a bit obvious, Drac. Stop it.

Is it all students?

Aw, Drac. If you were on the island, Jono would've asked you first and foremost!

With the exception of my husband... yes. There's a wealth of students. Some of them even know how to play music.

And some of them were llamas with triangles.

Drac's pianist was a wolf, Jono; don't be judgey.

So you're teaching music then? A school band?

Drac felt a small bit of relief. Even if he had been there, he wouldn't have been able to join a student group. It would be unfair irregular.

Did the wolf have a sense of rhythm? Yes? Then Jono was absolutely allowed to judge the llama.

Sort of an... extracurricular, I suppose? I made an all-call to the island at large. I suppose the only musicians who are left besides myself and Hannibal are students.//

Sigh.

Ah.

The way town residents come and go does present a problem. I am amused that the most permanent residents appear to be the students themselves.

A bit of time passed as Drac dropped his phone to zap the doors open for a luggage-carrying troll. A frequent visitor, the troll had been one of the many Drac had to thank for the positive reviews on the Hovels.com travel website.

That done... You will let me know your schedule? Perhaps I can come and listen. Travel is becoming more monster-friendly of late.

I'll be sure to. Still not sure what we're going to DO with this lot, but if we end up doing a gig or something, I'll let you know. I think we're going to end up doing rehearsals on Sundays, though, if you ever have the time to swing by.

Come save them, Drac. Save them from themselves.

Oh he would.

There was a crash from the direction of the staff stairs and one of the witchkeepers flew by him with a bucket of water.

He sighed heavily.

Believe me, I will try.
