Groovy Tunes, Saturday

Jono was actually in a good mood today. Yes, even Jono was aware of how weird that was. But he wasn't going to let a little thing like a good mood get in the way of listening to angry music. It just meant that it was entirely possible that he was going to end up pulling a guitar down off the wall and playing along, today. The Clash was playing ( Read more... )

Hannibal was here again this week, and again he'd brought berries and coffee. If only to prove they weren't only for when he was worried or feeling manipulative.

He was also in rather a good mood, which meant he was feeling mischievous.

He chuckled at Joni. "Should I have brought Beethoven, to give your laces a reprieve?"

//I think he'd never forgive you.// A beat. //That, or he'd end up eating one of the blue people, and I'd have an Incident on my hands.//

Cats and Smurfs. It was a thing.

"Are they hiding today?" Hannibal had yet to see the things. He poured Jono a cup of coffee and himself another.

//They're probably worried about what'll happen if Joni gets tired of shoelaces,// Jono replied, //But then, some days they're just quieter in general, anyway.//

He gave the berries an amused look, and then reached for the coffee. Just to hold it. Just to feel the warmth in his hands.

//How's your day been so far?//

"Uneventful," Hannibal answered. "I've been catching up on my reading."

And making lists of rude people to visit later. There were distressingly many of them in DC these days.

Really, at this rate, the world would probably thank Hannibal for his heroism...

//Anything good, or is it all the same distressing news?//

"Mostly more of the same, I'm afraid." He took a moment to enjoy his coffee. "I'm keeping a close eye on it."

//Good,// Jono replied. //Means I won't have to stare at it nonstop, myself.//

He fidgeted a bit, and then kind of stared awkwardly into his coffee.

//So, ah, I missed your birthday on Monday.//

Because he'd been busy recovering from his brain being basically liquefied by Nanika. He was sure Hannibal understood, but he didn't want his husband to think he'd forgotten completely, either.

Hannibal nodded. It was good to know that he hadn't forgotten. "With the state that your mind was in, I'm inclined to forgiveness," he said, giving Jono a smile. "It's good to have you back."

//It's good to be back,// Jono replied. //And capable of thinking about more than one thing at a time, again. I was hoping to be able to make it up to you, anyway. I was thinking... symphony tickets, perhaps?//

"Hm." Hannibal thought for a moment. "What are they performing?"

//Tonight's was supposed to be Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 24,// Jono replied, sounding almost apologetic. //But tonight... has sort of fallen through. An old friend has a bit of an emergency I'm going to have to help her with. Later this week there's some sort of Heroes and Villains thing using music by Beethoven and Stravinsky, though. And in a couple of weeks, Dvořák's Cello Concerto.//

"Which friend?" Hannibal asked. "What does she need?"

Hm. Stravinsky or Dvořák?

//Iris? Ah. Used to go by Ino, I might've mentioned her by that name to you before instead.// His brow furrowed faintly. //Several years back, she was told that her boyfriend had been killed in action. Turns out that was wrong, and now we've got one severely traumatized soldier and significant other coming in... tomorrow. Sometime.//

He brought the cup of hot coffee up to his face and just let the smell soak in.

//I gave them the apartment upstairs from the Boards, at least for the time being. They'll need space of their own, and I don't want them to have to worry about something like where they're going to sleep if they've both got that much to wrap their heads around.//

"Ino." Hannibal raised an eyebrow at him. "The young lady with the long blonde hair and something like radiation poisoning?"

He thought the next, in case there were squirrels around. The one who wanted to make certain I wouldn't be eating you?

//Her or someone like her,// Jono agreed, bemused. //I think perhaps some of that was Fandom at play, though. If she was sick, I think I might've noticed the last few times I met up with her.//

But an Ino was an Ino. Or an Iris, as the case might be.
