Streets of Fandom, Friday Evening

Dec 09, 2016 18:47

So, the great thing about this whole situation so far was that all of Sparkle's pointy things and shooty things were still on him when the island had swapped over, because Sparkle had been paying attention on Wednesday, and he wasn't stupid.

Or maybe he was stupid, because he was still fucking here. But besides that ( Read more... )

Of course it did. Damn it, Sparkle. Damn it.

Tony was scavenging for supplied to build something to be of use here. As one did when they had issues.

Which would be why he was hesitantly approaching Sparkle. With a jury rigged repulsor on hand.

And yeah, anybody approaching him in streets that looked like these was definitely going to catch Sparkle's attention, repulsor on one hand or no. Sparkle blinked up with a start and kind of skipped back a few steps, reaching for one of the knives at his hip without a second thought.

... Because sure, that would do a whole lot of good against a repulsor weapon.

Wait.

"... Tony?"

"Sparkle?" Tony sighed, quickly closing the distance between them. "Jesus, what are you doing out in this?"

"The plan was 'not starving to death,'" Sparkle replied, giving a little relieved sigh at all the 'not actually an axe murderer' vibes Tony was giving off, here. "Atton's gone, the apartment looks like it hasn't seen human life in decades, and I haven't eaten since fucking Wednesday. So, unless Pizza Planet still does delivery..."

Sorry, Tony. Sparkle was a bit on the hangry side.

Just a tiny bit hangry. Tony winced, curling the hand without tech attached around Sparkle's arm as he glanced up to keep a mental eye out for his truly lovely counterpart.

"It's really not safe out here. There are... campfires, I guess?"

"I kind of... I mean, this place is a ghost town," Sparkle muttered. "And I've seen Fandom at its worst before. I know it isn't safe. But I can't just sit in my apartment hoping somebody is going to figure this out while I starve."

And he hadn't had any idea what was going on outside, which made it worse.

"... Where are the campfires?"

"In the park." Tony had only passed by it because it seemed his counterpart was stalking him after their encounter.

"... Well." Sparkle frowned a little. "I guess that's where I'm headed, the--"

From a nearby alleyway, there was a sound of shuffling feet. That on its own was enough to catch Sparkle's attention, out here.

Tony, of course, attempted to shove Sparkle behind him to present himself as the only threat in the area. Because Tony.

Because Tony.

Because Tony. So how surprising would it be, then, when the guy who yelped as he was shoved behind Tony also appeared in the opening of the alleyway, skulking in the shadows, tilting his head at the two of them.

It looked like a curious gesture, except for how there was nothing in those eyes.

"Sparkle?" Tony asked warily, tightening his grip on the other one.

Sparkle tilted his head the other way, and then stepped forward, out of the shadows, into the light. He looked... he looked like Sparkle looked, maybe slightly older. Dirtier.

Emptier.

His mouth parted, and no words came out. He just reached. Reached for Tony, reached for Sparkle. Didn't matter. There was meat. It was in his way.

And the other one was just kind of... gaping. A lot.

"Toooony? What's with the me?"

Sparkle had never seen himself from this angle. You know, the hungry, homicidal looking angle. This was new and exciting in basically all the wrong ways.

Tony took a breath, letting emotional responses disappear for what needed to be done to keep someone else safe as he lifted the repulsor. "There's another me here too. You wouldn't want to meet him."

"What do you mean, another you? What the fuck is going on?"

Sparkle stepped backward as the other Sparkle lurched forward, and he couldn't help but feel a little bit ill at the empty look in his eye, in spite of the sick smile on the other him's face.

"What's wrong with him?"

"I have no idea," Tony admitted, trying and failing to keep him back at this point.
