A Random Fandom Rooftop, Sunday Afternoon

Nov 14, 2016 03:58

For once, the ever present rain had paused, but the cloud cover remained, leaving the sky the dull, lifeless grey of a shattered vidscreen. A few, valiant rays fought their way down, but were obliterated by actinic blue flouros well before they ever reached street level. The glass and polished steel that NuFandom had covered the weary granite bones of OldFandom with like some kind of silicon cancer glittered and gleamed, but it was with the light of a million tiny, artificial suns, not a natural one.

Which said it all, really, 5n1pz thought from her vantage point, where, clad in black leather, a pair of dark glasses sitting comfortably on her nose despite a marked lack of earpieces (or ears, for that matter), she perched, a horned gargoyle. The town gave every appearance of thriving, but beneath the bustle and shine, there was nothing that would actually support life. Just a hollow, dead core going through the motions.

But that was going to change, if she had to tear the whole structure down herself.
