Jalian was at the absolute worst phase of her Doorway - sitting and waiting. She even had plenty of probes for the time being; there was nothing to do but to see if it could find the timeline Raven was trapped in.
So instead, she was forced to do things that people brought to her. Well, that or be bored, and she didn't do bored well.
There was some work left over from Peridot the previous day, too. Why did somebody want a toaster that would fly?
She wrapped that one in tape with a letter on it that said, This is stupid. You will never catch it. and went to work on the rest.
