Peter gave up on the coffee today and got some pretty good tea at the Perk. On his way out, he spotted that the magic shop was open, and poked his head in to check it out. "Hello?"

It took Sam a moment to step over the box of books he was looking through, and then he peeked his head toward the door and smiled. "Hi. Can I help you?"

Peter waved. "I just hadn't seen this place open before."

[psychic_wonder]

"I'll be honest, I'm not sure when it was open last, I just took the place over today. I'm Sam, by the way," he said, holding out his hand. "I don't think I've seen you around town much?"

"Peter." Peter shook the offered hand. "I only got here Friday night. Are you new, too?"

[psychic_wonder]

"Oh no, I've lived here for way, way too long. I just picked up a new job," Sam said. "Have you gotten settled in okay?"

"Mostly," Peter said. "I don't have much furniture, but I don't have much stuff, so that's okay. And everyone seems pretty friendly."

[I'm headed for bed; SP?]

"It sounds like you had to move kind of quickly," Sam said in a sympathetic tone. "But you're right, everyone here is friendly. We all have to kind of get along to live in such a small town."

[That ended up being way longer SP than intended, sorry!]

"I wasn't planning on moving. I just sort of ended up here," Peter said. "You grew up here?"

Peter was possibly iffy on what "way way too long" meant for a human.

"Sort of. I came here for high school and while a lot of people leave after that, I stayed," Sam said. "I ended up with family here, so that's a big reason I came back."

"Family." Peter nodded. "That's important. Came back from where?"

"I went to college in New York, and then I lived there for a while with my boyfriend," Sam said, snickering. "His name is also Peter, actually. But my stepmother and stepsister are here, and he understands me splitting my time."

Peter smiled faintly. "I've lived in New York. But I preferred Boston. It must be really different, coming back to a small town."

"It's definitely different, especially since Fandom can be... a little more weird than New York, surprisingly," Sam said. "Have you been warned about that?"

"I've been warned about a few things," Peter said. "It seems okay so far, though, except for the cheese."
