He squinted and took a look around, expanding his psionic senses a little more, pulling down his walls. It meant letting in the general background noise from the rest of the island, the mental chatter and confusion and fear of the island's residents, but it also meant that nothing was quite as likely to sneak up on him.
And there were a lot of somethings out there, after all.
