JGoB, Saturday morning

Sep 05, 2015 07:00

Not knowing what to expect from a Fandom weekend, Isabel and Wyatt had left Victoria back in Roswell with her grandparents. Isabel probably should have taken advantage of being child-free and slept in while enjoying early morning snuggles with her husband, but excitement and a craving for baked goods had her up and about early ( Read more... )

This morning was weird so far. Stop a bad guy, reconnect with the other Spiders, have people tell him that Doom isn't the creator of everything and feel deep down like it might be true?

Peter needed a donut.

And he was just about to go get one when he spotted a familiar face or two. "Isabel? How are you doing?"

"Even better now that you're here," she smiled. "How are you? I've missed you."

"Going through a bit of an existential crisis, but other than that, not bad," Peter said. "I'm just glad I was able to make it."

"So am I. I wasn't sure who was going to turn up, but I was hoping you'd be here." Isabel frowned at the thought of an existential crisis on a weekend that was supposed to be fun. "Want to get a cup of coffee and talk about it?"

"I'll grab the coffee, but I'm a little iffy on getting into too much detail right now," Peter said. "But... do you remember me ever talking about Battleworld?"

It was a weird question to ask, because of course he had. He must of told her all about Battleworld and God Doom and the whole thing. It was the world where he lived nearly his whole life.... a far as he remembered.

It was Fandom, weird questions happened.

"No," she said. "And I'm pretty sure I'd remember someplace with that name."

"That's interesting," Peter said. "Well, you've done nothing to help the existential crisis, but I'm happy to get that coffee and hear about what's up with you." He was being mostly jokey, it was okay, except for deep in his brain where he was questioning all of reality.

"And here I was trying to help," Isabel sighed. "Well get the coffee and I can bore you with pictures of my kid if you'd like."

"No, it's nothing you probably could have helped with. It has to do with two alternate reality clones, one of which is a ghost, and it only gets weirder from there. Trust me, I'd like nothing more than something simple like kid pictures right about now," Peter said sincerely.

In other words, trauma of the sort that only happened to people related to the Marvel Universe. Isabel really hated that universe. "Okay," she said, pulling out her phone, opening the gallery and handing it over. "Swipe away. That's Victoria. She's two."

"She's adorable," Peter said as he start to flip through the pictures. "Is it weird that I can't believe we're old enough for you to have a two-year-old?"

"No, because I still feel like I'm pretending at being an adult," Isabel admitted. "Sometimes I think I'm going to roll over and be back in bed in the dorms."

"You never know, it still could happen," Peter said. "Probably only for a weekend, but still."

"It had better not. Most of my work happens on the weekends. My clients would be pissed," she told him.

"Fingers crossed," Peter said. "Although I don't know about you, but Fandom-style weird stuff stopped happening for me a while ago. Until I was kind of dragged back a few months ago, but that was less Fandom weirdness and more a fight to save reality. Two different things."

"I haven't had to worry about Fandom weirdness in a few years either," Isabel nodded. "Nowadays it's all demon stuff, but that's what happens when you're married to a witchy whitelghter."

"A fight to save reality? Did the Nothing come back?"
