The Beach, Saturday Morning

Jul 11, 2015 12:20

It was not a bad day to be Mabel. She had been taking Waddles out for a walk along the beach today to look for shiny sea glass when she had blinked, sneezed, and suddenly realized that she was less girl-shaped and more magpie shaped than usual. Waddles had looked at her strangely, but only for a moment, before deciding that Mabel was Mabel no matter what shape she was and continuing on his way.

And really, it wasn't like Mabel was going to let a little thing like being a bird stop her from collecting every sparkly thing she could find! Why, if anything, this meant she had a much better eye for it! Waddles could carry that old coffee cup Mabel just found in his mouth - hold this, Waddles - and then Mabel could fill it up with all the shinies!

By the end of the morning, there was a fantastic collection growing in that cup, consisting of several pieces of sea glass, a broken seashell, three shiny pennies, a bottlecap, a tiny pink pebble, two stick-on fake fingernails with glittery nail polish on them, and a puffy sticker in the shape of a dachshund sitting in a hot dog bun with the back completely encrusted in sand.

So... pretty much the same stuff Mabel would have picked up even if she wasn't bird-shaped.

This was the best day ever.

[OOC: There. Now I can vanish for a while. Open beach! Feel free to stare at the bird and her pig as they go about their business!]
