The Perk; Sunday Afternoon

Travis no longer felt comfortable staying for long periods of time in his room. He didn't like the fact that he had a roommate, someone who was almost always there and had to have noticed the change in his physical appearance. Who would want his ring and who would be denied before Travis gave that up.

He'd left as soon as the sun had peeked out over the horizon and was just now sitting down for the first time in hours. He was cagey and curt when talking to the guy behind the counter. He didn't seem to mind which was probably just a sign of how customer service could desensitize you to people who weren't the friendliest.

He'd taken his drink and positioned himself against a wall so no one could sneak up on him and so he could see people that came in and passed by the window. Travis tapped the ring against the table, a nervous habit that he'd explain away as something to constantly remind him of what was dear to him.

Travis took a sip of the drink. Not bad, not bad.
