There were plenty of warm and cold breakfast foods in the spread today, along with lots of other moddable foods and drinks.

Natalie had not really planned to attend any part of homecoming this year. But, as luck would have it, a window had opened in her Sunday, so here she was.

Taking advantage of the food tables. She'd missed that.

There was an event with free food - and lo, Edward showed up. Frankly, he was still feeling pretty good about getting to kiss Isabelle on Friday, kissing booth or not-- the grin hadn't really left his face.

He loaded his plate full of food as he hummed to himself.

"Happy to see a meal?" Anders asked teasingly, as he added some grapes to a plate heaped about as high as Edward's. "Good morning, by the way."

"I'm ecstatic to see a meal," Edward said, grinning at Anders. (Not that that was rough; he was grinning after everything.) "Just as I rolled out of bed, I thought: the truest delight in life is a cold ham and all the grapes I could wish for."

"I would say you have low standards for true delight, but these are good grapes," Anders joked in return.

"I am a simple man," Edward said, though he believed nothing of the sort. "Simple luxuries are all I seek."

Okay, that one might've been true.

Anders arched an eyebrow at the half-truth. "Me, I'll take all kinds of luxuries," he decided. "Simple, complex, or somewhere in the middle. I'm not choosy."

"That goes without saying," Anders said, tapping at his crown. "I am royalty, aren't I? I have to maintain certain standards."

"I can't believe someone crowned you," Edward said. (He was a bit envious, not that he'd say so out loud.) "So what country do you plan to subjugate and rule? How high will the taxes be? And do you need anyone to command your navy?"

"The sophomores weren't exactly spoiled for choice," Anders shrugged. (Not that knowing that stopped his ridiculous pride.) "And I'm still looking into it. One doesn't want to charge in and claim a country without being certain it's worth the trouble. But when I choose, you're welcome to the ships."

"And the taxes," he added, "will be exactly enough to keep me and mine luxury without bankrupting anyone."

"A noble goal," Edward said, nodding very solemnly and not thinking about stealing Anders' crown because at this point in his life, he still had some vague belief that stealing was wrong. "Giving me ships, I mean. Caring about the rabble, that's asking for trouble."

"You clearly have no idea how many terrible taxes a people'll take without rebelling," Edward said.
