Alfred was starting to wonder if he would ever find a use for the basement under the restaurant. Currently, he was using most of it as a wine cellar and a refrigerator, but there was a corner in the back that was going completely unused.

Perhaps he could build himself a little space to call his own. A sort of secret space. A lair, if you will ( Read more... )

Cafe Fina is open for lunch. There's been a rather marked increase in people coming for it here, as of late.

Perhaps it's the emo-free atmosphere.

Walter came in for lunch, eschewing the pantsless chef's offerings.

Besides, the Look meant that he couldn't put off the Talk without Repercussions.

"Hello, Walter," Alfred said. "Would you like something to eat? On the house, of course."

"Yes, sir, thank you," Walter answered already heading toward the kitchen. "I was in the mood for the pasties. They are always very good."

"Walter, sit. You're not on duty and you needn't fetch or make your own lunch." He pointed towards one of the empty tables.

Walter sat, because arguing seemed like a Bad Thing. My, but his day was full of capital letters.

Alfred disappeared into the kitchen and returned with Walter's lunch. "So, are things well between you, Victor, and Nadia?" he asked, setting Walter's lunch in front of him.

"Thank you." Walter smiled faintly and settled his napkin in his lap.

"I have not seen Nadia since last night, but things are fine between Victor and me."

"Excellent to hear," Alfred said. He sipped at a cup of tea that had always been there. Yes, it had. and looked across the table at his pupil. "So, you had to go to some... extreme measures to speak with Miss Santos I hear?"

"Not overly extreme, sir," Walter equivocated. "But I did restrain her after she pushed me a couple of times."

"Why did she push you? Perhaps it would be better if you recounted the story from the beginning."

But I don't wanna!

"Yes, sir." Concision was probably key with this one.

"I wanted to speak to Nadia as soon as possible to hear her side of the story. I found her in Carita's. I told her we needed to talk, she disagreed. I blocked her path, she tried to get around me, I blocked her path again, and she pushed me. I did not move, she tried to push me again and I put her in an armlock. Then the no-violence spell kicked in, and we were both ejected from the club. Then we talked."

That was fairly concise. Barring the fact that he might have meant that armlock to hurt a bit.

Alfred was silent for a moment. "Well, I can see that there were circumstances that might have required the use of restraint. Still, I'm disappointed you resorted to force so quickly. Delicated situations require the abillity to be diplomatic and talk your way out of problems."

"Yes, sir." But Alfred hadn't been there. She would have just run for it if he hadn't restrained her.

Besides, he knew Nadia's tendencies to go for the soft parts first.

Victor came in after his trip to All and Sundries, hoping to get some lunch and give Alfred his gift.

"Hello Victor," Alfred said, somewhat suprised. "I appear to becoming more and more popular with the student body these days."
