The Park, Monday

Lucas was still a tree.

There was a bird nesting in his branches now.

He really didn't know what to make of that.

There was also an Artie in his branches. Though Artie wasn't, as far as we know, nesting.

"Never fear, Music Man! I will safe-guard you as long as you are tree!"

Walter showed up and didn't have too much trouble figuring out which was the Lucas-tree, since the other trees didn't have apples.

Lucas was pleased to have a visitor. So he dropped an apple for Walter.

Walter caught the apple and looked at it. A nice, shiny, perfectly apple-y apple.

That had just dropped off of Lucas.

No way was he eating that. It smacked of cannibalism.

"Thanks, Lucas." He tucked it in his bookbag. He couldn't just throw a piece of Lucas away, either.

Nadia arrived at the park at a run. Not because she was in any hurry to see Walter, but because she was in a hurry to get this over with and make Lucas not be a tree any more.

"Hola, Lucas, Artie. . . . Walter,"

She resolutely wasn't looking at Walter. Because she couldn't decide if she wanted to kiss him again, hit him, or run away from him.

Orlin is watching tree!Lucas for Nadia while Scathadh is practicing her ninja!skillz.

Lucky him, he brought a book.

Lucas appreciates that Orlin is willing to look out for him, so he drops an apple.

He also appreciates recreating famous moments in history, so the apple might just be aimed for Orlin's head.

Trees can't laugh. But the rustling of leaves might sound a little bit chuckle-like.

Orlin didn't see the apple falling, but Scathadh did. With ninja!fast skillz, she jumped up on Orlin's head, and attempted to catch it. She failed and fell over the back of the bench, with the apple clutched in her little paws.

"Ow!" Orlin yelped as Scathadh head jumped him, and noticed the leaf rustle. "Very funny." he muttered, trying to look grumpy, but failing.

Pippi is riding through the park on Old Man, her lewt from All and Sundries bundled up on his back.

When did they plant an apple tree in the park?

"Huh." said Pippi out loud to the tree. "Where did you come from?"

If trees could rustle their leaves sarcastically, this one would.

Alas, it was not to be, as one rustle sounded pretty much like another. Instead, Lucas chose to answer Pippi's question by flinging an apple as hard as he could in the general direction of Empire Records and Bidet.

The act of an apple getting flung from a tree in the direction of a repository of music called "Empire" was far to rife with potential symbolism, for Pippi to get right off the bat.

Old Man was just interested in the apple.

He started to amble off in the direction of the apple.

"Hey! No wait Old Man!"

No good. Can't stop. Apple.

Pippi sighed and slid off the horse's back as he continued to mosey over to the apple.

Mr. Neilson was also intrugued by the tree.

Lucas watched the horse wander off sadly. Apparently his apple flinging hadn't worked.

His branches drooped.
