Caritas, Saturday

Dec 21, 2013 20:36

April came into work today to find Tino bound to the bar with mistletoe, and although Caritas was a family establishment, April thought it was funny and left him like that.

Look, she wasn't even going to consider the alternative. Gross.

"Oh, hey, I liked you," Jack said, as she slid onto a stool. "Gimme absinthe. It's green."

She'd never had absinthe, but a special seemed an excellent reason to try. Also, it might distract her from the mistletoe that had been following her around all night.

"Is it?" April said dryly, but she dutifully went about pouring Jack her drink.

April had never had the opportunity to serve absinthe before, so, at a loss for what kind of glass to use, she opted for a tall beer mug, but only filled it halfway. She still looked a little dubious when she handed it over.

"That might be a little much."

"Nah, I have ridiculous tolerance," Jack bragged.

She also didn't know exactly what a normal amount of absinthe was. But she figured between the biotics and the fact her body was used to booze, this much probably wouldn't kill her.

She took a swig and made a face. "It's like licorice," she reported. "Really alcoholic licorice."

"Huh," April said, tilting her head at it. "I would have expected a more 'nail polish remover' taste."

"Maybe, but I don't drink nail polish remover," Jack said helpfully, then edged her mug back toward April. "Have a sip if you want. I don't have cooties."

"You should, it's full of nutrients," April drawled. "Or maybe that's milk."

She sniffed the mug dubiously, then took a sip.

"Ugh," she pronounced. "I prefer acetone."

"You can have the acetone, I'll keep the absinthe," Jack said cheerfully. She spun idly on the stool, ending up aimed at Tino, then turned back to April with a raised eyebrow. "Isn't that a little kinky for work hours?"

"Yes and no," April replied. "We turned into a sex club for a night once, so it's not worse than that. Plus I think it's self-inflicted in this case."

Tino's response was very rude, but fortunately the zombie band drowned it out.

"That makes it even kinkier," Jack smirked. "... and now I'm pissed I missed the sex club night. Do it again."

"Get some gremlins to persuade me and I will," April promised. "It was awesome. Lots of leather."

"I like leather," Jack said, as if that wasn't totally obvious. "Did guys get spanked? Tell me there were spankings."

Yes, Jack's fondness for leather was quite clear.

"At least two guys did," April confirmed, smirking. "A vampire and a guy who works at the gym. That second guy gets all blushy around me now. It's amazing."

"I bet," Jack laughed, and then got distracted. "... wait, a literal vampire? We got those?"

[[night!]]

"Yeah, this hot Norse guy who runs the other bar," April said. "It's a better bar. Actually, you should probably go there instead."

It was truly amazing that April hadn't been fired yet.
