Molly entered the store, once again the picture of innocence, but alone today. Pulling a piece of paper out of her pocket long enough to sneak a peak at it, she began to wander up and down the aisles trying to look like she was just casually shopping.
Studied casualness is so much less casual than real casualness. Edmund looks up and sends Lizzy to follow Molly through the aisles.
Chances were good, thought Edmund blackly, that the robot dog, influenced by Pippi as she was, would just wag at the girl in the hat no matter what she did.
Molly had already picked up Windex, curling ribbon, a notepad, a pencil sharpener (non electric) and M&Ms (peanut) when she stopped in front of the shoe polish. She checked her list again, but no, Angel hadn't specified a color. She contemplated the selection for a while and finally, with a shrug, picked up a container of black because you could never go wrong with black. Especially when you were talking about Angel.
It was only as she turned to hunt for the last two items on her list that she noticed the robot dog. "Hello, metal puppy," she said with a grin.
Molly giggled and reached down to pet Lizzy on the head before heading over to the clothing section to find a black necktie and, hopefully, a large metal belt buckle.
When Molly had collected the final items on her list, she took them up to the counter to pay. After setting everything down, she bent over to pet Lizzy again. "You're really cute for a little metal puppy."
Molly giggled and shook Lizzy's paw before standing up to answer Edmund. "No, I found everything I needed, thank you," she told him with a smile as she pulled out the money Angel had given her and paid for the items.
"I'm sure I will," Molly said as she folded up the bag and slipped it into her backpack. "Bye, little metal puppy," she added with a wave as she headed out the door.

Edmund facepalmed.

Lizzy followed the nice girl, wagging and blinking her tail a little faster.

He loosened up a little. Maybe adult women would like Lizzy, too... Maybe he could use her as a device to meet people. Maybe, just maybe, he could...
He blinked and gave Molly a more real smile as he realized that his train of thought had derailed hugely.
"Will there be anything else?"
Lizzy, in the meantime, had stood up on her hind legs and put her paw out to shake the way Pippi had taught her to.

However, the girl was a repeat customer, so he tried for some manners. "Thank you. Please come again."
