The weather was being kind - perhaps unnaturally so. There was a large gap in the clouds right above Fandom island, sending sunlight streaming down even as the sun made its way towards the horizon

Play volleyball, or go into the water if you're brave enough... it's pretty cold.

Korra had snagged one of the balls, but she wasn't so much playing volleyball as fetch with a polar bear dog sized ball.

Cade was totally stupid brave enough to be in the water!

Shirtless because it was a beach party and that's how Cade rolled.

Late fall in Brazil didn't stop Kennedy from trying to hit the beach as often as possible, but it was definitely nicer in a summer climate.

She'd grabbed a volleyball and was tossing it up in the air, as far as she could throw it (which was pretty far with the Slayer strength and all), just because she was pretty sure she'd kill the ball if she actually tried to hit it.

"Oh my god, Mat, seriously?" asked Kennedy, laughing when she saw what he was wearing. "I know fashion in your world is really wacky, but that is not beach-appropriate wear by any stretch of the imagination."

She gave him a mock-scolding look for two seconds, then dropped it in favor of a more genuine smile.

"Keeping yourself in trouble?"

"Always," Mat assured her. "Currently cooling my heels in Caemlyn waiting on Bloody Queen Elayne to get around to answering my request. She's gotten fat."

"Yep. Same old Mat," Kennedy said with an indulgent sigh. "All about noticing appearances."

That was only mildly scolding, because hi, pot, kettle.

"Yeah, it's winter now, so that's really bloody strange, right?" Mat agreed obliviously.

"Like... a lot of ice cream." Oh, Mat. The urge to just pat you on the head was very strong right now. "Possibly other weird things?"

"Dude. It's been forever." Dinah was totally willing to be distracted by anything this weekend. "You look like Brazil's treating you well."

"There's a definite upside to being able to do weekends in Rio whenever I feel like it, yeah." Kennedy tossed the ball aside and bounded over to give Dinah a hug (and she was much better about remembering not to break people's ribs now). "Made a hell of a school's-out-for-summer party place. What's been going down for you?"

Dinah snickered and hugged her back, feeling herself start to chill out. "Been in Glacia, with Karla's crew for the last ... oh, month there, getting close to three months there. Politics and war prep. I don't know if you'd love it or hate it or both."
