The Perk, Late Monday Afternoon

Apr 08, 2013 17:38

So, Billy's weekend had been... interesting. Good interesting, at least--after all, how often did people have sex for the first time and then meet their future child with such a short time in between? And it was nice that Antonia was older this time around, because it meant future!him and future!Topher weren't total failures as parents, and it ( Read more... )

And lo, in a flash of brown hair and a purple dress, one Cassandra Lightwood supersped her way across the street and into the coffee shop.

She liked showing off her powers just for her own amusement, oh yes.

Wait, she knew that face. Not only was it the face in all those pictures of her dad that Kate always showed her, but it also belonged to her very favorite uncle. "Hey, Uncle Billy."

And here Billy thought he was done with surprises for the day. "Um. Hi there," he said. This was what he got for letting himself get distracted from the radio.

"You look weird tiny," she remarked gleefully. "Do you need a coffee refill?" She zapped over to Billy's table at a few dozen miles per hour. "I'd be happy to get one for you."

With that, she flopped into the chair across from Billy and grinned at him.

There was only one person Billy knew who could move that fast and--no, what would she be doing here then? "Did you say Uncle Billy?"

"That's right," Cassandra agreed, smirking. "Unless you're my dad with a dye job. Quick check: who'd you rather spend the night with, Black Widow or Hawkeye?"

"Hawkeye, duh." Because aaaaarms. "Wait, is Tommy your dad?" Oh god, his brother with a child, that was a terrifying thought. "Please please tell me Kate's your mother." She would never, ever hear the end of it if she was.

"Unless you have another sibling I don't know about," Cassandra teased. "I've never heard of the Scarlet Witch having triplets, Unc."

As for the other part... "No. But she is my godmother. Not that I told her that when I found her the other day." Because Cassandra was a total troll. "My mom's Isabelle Lightwood. Her brother goes here, but she's not from where you're from."

Keeping up, Billy?

No, not really, be he was certainly going to try. "You mean Alec? He's the only Lightwood I know of around here." Billy couldn't fault Tommy if this Isabelle girl was as attractive as her brother. "What's your name? Am I your favorite uncle? Caution: there's only one right answer to that."

Oops, that meant Cassandra's answer was only half right. "You and Uncle Teddy are probably tied," she mused. "There's Uncle Jace, too, though. It's a tough call... but you always get me the best presents."

Well, Billy did have magic. Which some would consider cheating.

On one hand, it was probably bad to ask about the future, especially when it was a weird future that was totally different from his own. On the other hand... "Are your Uncle Teddy and I together where you're from?" he asked. "Uh, just curious."

Oops, was that a spoiler? Oh, well. It was a necessity, as far as Cassandra was concerned.

"You really are young," Cassandra marveled. "But, yeah, big time. You're like the most in-love people I've ever met."

Oh, don't mind Billy, he was just going to sit here and feel awkward for a minute. "That's--that's good to know," he said. "So, um, I couldn't help but notice you're kind of fast. I assume you got that from my brother? It's good to know you got something good." Although maybe she had the penchant for destruction too, who knew?

"I got my speed from Daddy and the tattoos from Mommy," Cassandra teased, pushing up one sleeve to show off, yes, a ridiculous amount of tattoos. "Among other things. I'd tell you all about how he's an awesome dad, but all you guys have been in space for forever now, so the best I can say is that I'm pretty sure he gave me the best pony-themed ninth birthday party ever."

Oops, she kind of made it sad.

"Can I just say, if you ever have to go to space to do a Teddy thing, try not to get stuck? Kate and Alec are great godparents, but I miss you guys."

Cassandra had a complex and occasionally traumatic backstory for an AU kid, yes. Because her players were insane.

Billy's eyes got a little wide, and he nodded sympathetically. "No going into space without a solid plan to get back for more pony-themed parties, got it," he said. "I--I'm sorry? For the little that that's worth."

"It wasn't your idea," Cassandra said -- aiming for casual, but landing somewhere not far away from 'clingy.' "And we can still talk because of your magic and everything. It's just really good to see you in person."

"It's good to see you too. I knew Tommy could be a good guy," Billy said with a genuine grin. "Pony parties aside, he must be a good guy for you to miss him."
