After an absence from Fandom of a week or so, during which he went home to Pierrefonds to put his affairs in order, M. du Vallon de Bracieaux de Pierrefonds -- no, make that M. du Vallon de Bracieaux de Pierrefonds d'Efferton -- stood and looked at his new purchase. When he'd asked for the largest, most elegant estate on the island, he hadn't expected it to be in such... disrepair. He was beginning to understand what the realtor had been trying to imply with the strange English phrase "fixer-upper".
Still, most of the problem was with the landscaping, which would be righted soon enough, and most of the rest was with the architecture, which he could do nothing to help. Besides, a good helping of loving care could bring out the elegance in anything, and he could afford plenty of that.
He marched briskly towards the main door while his small army of servants, pulling wagons full of his belongings, struggled to keep up. He fumbled with the key for a bit before managing to unlock the door, and then threw the door open in triumph.
He stood in the foyer for some minutes, surveying his new estate, before motioning the servants forward. "Yes, I believe this will do," he announced.
