It was really not a good idea for Alec to be out today. The last two times he'd gone out, after all, he'd wound up injured. He did not really want to go for a third here.
But detention was being stormed tomorrow, and as a Shadowhunter Alec had access to a resource that a lot of the mundanes in the Resistance didn't: holy weapons caches.

When Alec went into the church Jace followed, silently asking for permission before going inside. He lingered in the back of the church waiting for the right time to make his presence known.

Because as it was, he was totally absorbed in his task of kneeling in front of a trunk full of weapons with his back to Jace, searching for a dagger to bring back to Sparkle. Crossbow, crossbow... oh, gremlin repellent, he'd have to remember that. And -- there. A dagger. He slipped it into the inside pocket of his jacket, then turned his attention back to searching for other things that might be useful.

Alec stood up slowly, not letting go of the bow he'd most recently grabbed. Last time he hadn't been armed; today he was, and he wasn't about to waste that advantage.
"I figured it couldn't hurt," he said carefully, making sure to keep the weapon pointed at Jace. "I would've thought you'd've done this already, though."

"Why don't you just come quietly? Things would be easier that way." And maybe Umbridge would just curse Alec or shove him in detention instead of killing him.
