Moon Landing Dance, Community Center, Saturday Evening

Jul 21, 2012 17:50

Notices had gone out to all and sundry, inviting both those who still lived on the island as well as those who'd moved away to come back for a dance at the Fandom Town community center, in celebration of the 43rd (give or take a day) anniversary of the original moon landing, as well as the wonderful summer they were having.

Once people arrived, they ( Read more... )

For those less inclined to mingle. You know who you are.

Natalie supposed she was one of the people the OCD narrative had meant, and she was fine with that.

Wearing the same dress she'd worn to the Valentine's Dance, she found herself a nice spot closer to the walls so she could observe the proceedings, a drink in her hand.

Peeta had never been to a dance before so he wasn't exactly going to be front and center until he discovered what exactly went down during one. He was wearing some of his nicer clothes (which weren't so nice by normal standards) and was leaning against a wall, sipping his drink.

He wasn't uncomfortable being here, but he was being quiet and people watching.

Cara indeed knew who she was, which was why she was safely out of the way watching people.

"How did I know I'd find you off to the side of the dance?" Bruce asked as he approached Cara.

Because some things you didn't need to be the World's Greatest Detective for?

"Where else would I be?" Cara replied. Look, this was how she showed people she was happy to see them. With sarcasm.

"There's always a chance you could have picked up the dance bug since the last time I saw you," Bruce noted. "Admittedly, it's a very small chance."

That earnt Bruce an eyeroll. "You were not gone long enough for that to happen," she said. "I don't dance." Not unless she cared more about upsetting the person asking's feelings than her own awkwardness and indignity.

There were very few people who Cara cared that much about being upset.

"I did say 'very small chance,'" Bruce pointed out.

"Which only means you didn't get too delusional while you were gone."

She'd missed you too, Bruce.

"No time for delusions. I've already started college," Bruce said. "Time's moving a little faster in my world for some reason."

"I was under the impression college was the perfect time for delusions." Look most of her knowledge of tertiary education came from the television. "Mine moves slower. Or it did." Which was another reason she was stuck here for while.

"Maybe for some people. For me, it just means more things to take care of," Bruce said.

This was the first dance Dave had been to since Miley left, so he was back to his awkward position of not really knowing what to do. Except for avoiding drinking anything that could possibly be spiked. There was the chance that could lead to makeouts, yes, but usually it lead to him being sick and/or embarrassed.

So he just ended up off to the side for now. Awkwardly.

Peter had been reliably informed that it "might be safer if you made appearances away from Haiti every now and again."

That didn't mean he had to like it.

Or had to be visible doing it.

You'd have to search the shadowy corners very well to find him.
