It only took a few phone calls reminding Britta that charges could still be pressed against her if she didn't start showing up for "work" (she thought of it more as an enslavement of her human dignity) again to get her back into the store. She did so grudgingly, of course, narrowing her eyes at the beacon to consumerism and thinking that, if she was going to jail, it was going to be for arson, burning the place down, rather than a failed attempt to steal canned goods for needy children.
And then she remembered how many meals she'd been filching out of the fridge in the common room, the fact that the smokes that were holding her over until she got more pot were dwindling, too, and that she really kind of needed the money.
So she was back to work, back to glowering at the counter and, on occasion, going around the store and putting up warning signs about certain products that she deemed unethical. Signs like: MADE OF ADORABLE BABY ANIMALS. Or: NOT ORGANIC. Or: THIS COMPANY SUPPORTS CHILD LABOR. Like you do.
Today's Squishy flavors: Grape, Blue Raspberry, Red, all with a sign of: THIS IS NOT FOOD. THESE ARE CHEMICALS THAT ARE DESTROYING YOUR BODY.
Turtle & Canary is open!
