There were bad things, non-human bad things, at work on the island. Dire straits and danger and all of that. These were the sort of circumstances that might concern people like Samuel Anders and Jaina Solo, but then that gremlin had intervened. Or
bitten, as the case may be.
With Tino gone, there was no one to stop them from raiding Caritas for all the booze they could carry. And pint glasses. And mixers.
Because yes, there were bad things at work on the island, but that was just a day in the life for Frank and Sadie Doyle: high-society headliners, alcohol aficionados and, oh yes, psychic detectives.
Provided they had enough booze.
Which they did.
Frank raised his martini (yes, it was in a pint glass) in the air and boisterously demanded, "Who cares what evil lurks in the hearts of men?"
