Strawberry Social - The Park, all day

Jun 03, 2011 08:05

Vida had gotten an early start in the park to set things up for the Strawberry Social. It had been chilly and damp when she arrived, but a stern glare at the clouds had sent them fleeing, and the sun was shining over the park now, making for a bright and sunny day. There was danceable music playing and plenty of places to stretch out and enjoy ( Read more... )

There were typical picnic fixings, salads and chips and grillables, as well as just about every strawberry dessert you could think of. Fresh strawberries, of course, as well as chocloate-covered strawberries, strawberry ice cream, strawberry cheesecake, strawberry jello, strawberry parfaits, strawberry shortcake, strawberry tarts, strawberry jam, and strawberry pie.

For beverages there was strawberry lemonade, strawberry tea, strawberry milkshakes, and strawberry soda, as well as strawberry margaritas, strawberry daquiris, strawberry beer, and strawberry wine for any who wanted to indulge.

Surreal was going to spend most of the party sampling little bits of everything, and trying to remember what it all was. Much of it was too sweet for her tastes, causing her to make faces, but she did like the tarts quite a lot.

Raven caught sight of her little sib and drifted over to check on her, since they hadn't spoken since the welcome picnic, and she was feeling very negligent in her Big Sibling duties.

"Hello, Surreal," she said. "How have you been settling in to Fandom? I hope it has been pleasant."

Surreal swallowed a bite of her strawberry and shrugged. "I still don't understand the reason behind a computer, and your food is very strange," she said bluntly. "And your coaches smell funny."

"Oh, computers are wonderful," Raven said. "I was unfamiliar with them as well before I came here, as Azarath does not have computers either, but I have since learned how to use them." Just don't get her started on Rumor Gal, her main reason for learning to use a computer.

"They don't make sense!" Surreal replied, waving her hands. "The letters, on the...keyboard? They are all over the place, with no rhyme or reason! I could hand scribe a letter and walk it to Hell in the time it takes me to peck out one line!"

"I do agree with you," Raven said, nodding. "I found it most perplexing when I first attempted to learn to use a keyboard. I am not certain what logic was used to set it up in such a way, but I have found that with practice you will become faster."

Jeremy was hanging out by the food tables. He couldn't help it, all these cute strawberry thing were reminding him of her mom (not that Letitia would've made them herself, but she would've requested them from the cook), and maybe he was feeling a little homesick.

It was more than nice that it was sunny again, though, and he looked cheerful in his red tie.

Sam didn't own any red that didn't involve flannel and plaid, so that's what he was rocking today, while Grace was dressed in a much nicer red sundress. He was holding her hand with one hand, and a plate with the other, letting her pick what they were going to share to eat. So far, everything involved either chocolate or sugar, but what was the fun in eating with your stepsister if you couldn't give her a sugar rush?

Toby had, perhaps unsurprisngly, gravitated immediately towards the food. Even after sampling some of everything, he was (rather discreetly, he hoped) tucking anything that looked like it would survive a trip back to the dorms into his jacket pockets for later.
