When Alexander came into the shop today to find a new box of merchandice, he was almost worried about opening it. However, he took the plunge and gave it a try, and was quite pleased to find some old worn paperbacks inside rather than an assortment of often terrifying little trinkets such as last week. Even better, most of them weren't even those with the bodice-ripping, flowing hair covers, though, to be honest, he sometimes found those terribly interesting. They made his heart feel a little heavy, though, for his own lost love.
No, they were mysteries in the box today, and Alexander, intrigued, picked one up and started to read it while he sat behind the counter. Perhaps it was all the rain and the darkness outside, but he was instantly drawn in, eyes to the page, pages flipping eagerly as he wondered who might have done this book's heinous crime, going through the twists and turns with the plucky main character as she tried to figure it out.
He was so engrossed that his poor heavy heart might not be able to take it should he get any surprises while at work today.
