Town Hall, Sunday Morning

Apr 10, 2011 15:18

"Thank you for coming here at such short notice," Cable began. He had called everyone here by ways of radio broadcast, and now he was standing upright and at the front. He looked about ready to kill something with his bare hands. "Let's keep this short. We've been in the middle of an invasion since this Friday. Now our children have been kidnapped ( Read more... )

Chatter at each other, listen to what the Mayor has to say...

Jono had been about ready to make his way to the library for his shift when he'd heard the broadcast, heard the fact that those things outside had taken to kidnapping children, and had pulled a complete about-face in order to head to Town Hall, instead.

He'd been doing an admirable job staying out of trouble this weekend. And now he was quite willing to go out looking for it, instead.

Bobby was... well, to the casual observer, Bobby was not here. There was, however, a teenager who seemed to be made of ice who was hanging around. Kidnapping, especially the kidnapping of kids, was just Not On, and so Iceman was making one of his actually not-so-rare as they were becoming more frequent appearances.

"Ice man." No playing with names when citizens were in danger. "Nice to see you again. And to maybe be working together again? It would be nice to work with someone I already know and trust."

"Blossom, hey," Iceman smiled at her. "I'm all for that," he agreed with a nod.

"Great." She grinned back. "I'm going to try to go with one of the groups that has parents in it. I know that they're all professionals, but if something happens... it will be good to have someone on the team who's not as close."

Iceman nodded. "I was thinking of asking Cable," he nodded over at the mayor.

Blossom looked over, then nodded. "Start at the top! Good idea. Plus, uhm, I'd almost be more afraid of him getting out of control than any of the others." It was probably the guns. Or the glowy eye.

"He does seem... crankier than usual," Iceman had to admit. Not that he'd seen the man ever look especially cheerful, but. "Which is understandable, all things considered."

Blossom nodded. "I'm actually surprised the parents didn't just get together themselves and take off after the villains." Surprised and pleased.

Very few people had seen Anakin looking this angry and lived to tell others about it. When he walked into the room you could almost hear kettle drums.

...weird.

He sat in the back and tried not to make eye contact with anyone. Small talk was not going to be his thing today.

Bruce showed up after hearing the emergency broadcast. If there were people in trouble, he was going to lend a hand. If it was children? He was ready for war.

What better way to earn the trust he so rightly didn't deserve than to come on a rescue mission? Captain Hook, usually not the biggest fan of small children, arrived fully dressed and fully armed, ready to help out in whatever way was called for.

Blossom had heard the emergency broadcast and decided the rest of the island could take care of the monsters: she had to at least see what she could do to help the children. She was totally in the crowd, trying to hear what was happening.

Jaina was surprisingly calm for a former frequent kidnapping victim whose tiny aunt had been taken from her apartment, if impatient to get moving. This was one of those times when flipping out wouldn't solve anything, so it was best just to put all her worry and anger into finding the kids.

And hopefully to do it before Anakin tried to bite anyone's head off or something. She was sort of waiting for that.

There was pretty much nothing like hearing about kids in danger that would get Stephanie's hackles up quite as fast, and without Cass or Tim or Babs or Bruce to hold her back, well . . .

Robin (the girl one who happened to be a ball of taut, impatient energy at the moment) was standing near a wall near the front, her mask doing nothing to hide the anger on her face.
