Devil's Nest, Tuesday Evening.

Mar 15, 2011 14:15

The music tonight seemed to have a fake-Russian-lesbians theme, but Emma had on a bright smile as she unlocked the doors of Devil's Nest. Today had been lovely, especially in contrast to her weekend, and it was going to take more than best of Russian Pop to sour her mood.

After getting into the club, Cindy wandered to the bar and asked for a wine spritzer. The music was interesting enough at least.

Eric generally left the students to their own devices, but she looked closer to his own age (well, his outer age. Most people didn't look this good at a thousand) and so he came out of the VIP section to investigate.

"Hello."

Well, when you were Eric's age, there were no original pick-up lines.

"Hello," Cindy said back, taking another sip of her spritzer. She'd been watching him ever since he'd started to make his way over to her. Most people would have assumed that she was checking him out--and she had been. Though her interest in his physique was a tailored more towards getting a bead on how hard he'd be to take down if needed.

Though he was handsome. She wasn't blind, god.

"Phone got boring?" she asked.

Okay, so maybe she'd noticed him before he'd started walking over. Details.

"A bit," Eric said with a smile. Of course he knew he'd been watched. "I need new apps for it."

"Only so many hours of Angry Birds before you need to find something else to do?" Cindy asked lightly. "You know, I could probably dedicate an entire class to picking and choosing phone apps."

"So you teach," Eric replied, leaning casually against the bar (which had been set up at the optimal height for Eric to lean against it). "What subject?"

"I teach," Cindy agreed, angling slightly towards him. "This semester, I'm teaching Intro to the 21st Century for our time-displaced students. Before that, I taught a course about logical fallacies, and two others on literature."

She smiled a bit. "Who knows what I'll be teaching next. Maybe something about computer age philosophy."

Eric's lips quirked up. "That's quite a range of subject matter. Which has been your favorite?"

She'd had a really long time to pick up a little bit of everything. Something Eric could probably relate to.

"My literature class on the heroic journey," Cindy said, thoughtfully. "For one thing, I think it resonated with a lot of the students here as they try to figure out where they're going in life. Plus, I got to ramble about the Sumerian epics and when isn't that fun?"

Sipping her drink, she asked, "And what brings you to Fandom? Besides our previous dreadful lack of dance clubs?"

"Oh, I was getting bored," Eric said, "and thought I should diversify my portfolio."

And not always be in the same place where witches could find him and cast spells. You know, just in case.
