She was way too restless to stay still so she wandered around the island, staying carefully away from MCA and certain parts of the beach. After taking care of Effy (who was now a kitten), Alex found himself out for a smoke in the park. He had to do a double take when he spotted Rose because he hadn't seen her in so long.

"I'm not hallucinating, am I?" he asked, deciding that could be his greeting.

"Yeah, you probably are," Rose replied, unable not to grin at seeing Alex. It felt like it had been a long time since she'd smiled like that. She jumped off the swing. "Do you usually hallucinate?"

"Sometimes," he said, shrugging. "If I haven't had enough sleep but I got plenty of sleep last night and haven't consumed any drugs in awhile so and you don't look like a hallucination so maybe I'm actually seeing a blast from the past?"

"Yeah, hallucinations usually look more freaky than me," she decided. "It's gotta be time travel then. You've slipped through times to last year. Weird, right?"

"I must have cuz you look old," he joked, wandering closer to her. "The years have aaaaaaaaaaaaaged you terribly, my friend."

"...me looking old makes you think you went back in time?" Rose replied, unable not to smirk a little. "Your brain needs to be checked."

"No, you looking old is just an observation I'm making because I can," Alex said, shrugging. "It's an honest assessment of what mine eyes are seeing. What are you, like thirty now?"

Rose made a face. "You just wish thirty would look this good," she snarked though her heart wasn't exactly in it.

"I'm surprised to see you," he said honestly, tossing his cigarette away and smiling. "The undead cows get a little too boring for you?"

"Didn't expect to me back," she admitted. "Lissa sent me for the day." With the cigarette gone, Rose figured it was safe to close the distance and go for a hug. Alex could just deal with it. "We're in Pennsylvania now. Not even any undead cows to handle."

"Pennsylvania?" Alex asked while he was hugging her. "Why the move? Don't tell me it's for their exhilarating sports teams."

"Hell no! I could play sports better than any of those jackasses," she said instantly. "And they have stupid names. The Penguins? Who'd be scared of a Penguin?"

Alex laughed because that sure was a vehement statement of her dislike right there. "I dunno, a ladybug? I'd think a penguin could at least crush a ladybug if they ever met."

"Think a penguin would eat a ladybug," Rose considered. "I mean once you eat raw fish, a bug can't be that different..."

"So, we've established that you're not in Pennsylvania for their astounding sports teams," he said, taking a seat on one of the swings and giving himself a kick. "What are you there for?"

"Lissa's there," Rose said, sitting back on her own swing. "She's living at the Royal Court and going to school at Lehigh. I actually got assigned to her for real." It had been in the air there for a while.
