It wasn't terribly often there was anyone in the cells of the station. So, coming in to find what polite company would call a garishly gentleman and a lady of negotiable affections was interesting at the very least

Well, cell. There were two, but a certain Sergeant thought it best to keep them in the same one.

Where people can talk to them. When they tag In, of course. Otherwise it would be a mite bit awkward.

Kūkaku hated that sergeant.

Of course, it was still pretty early. This was just the beginning of it.

She'd been mostly laying low, seeing if she could get away with them letting her smoke in the cell until they realized they were being idiotic about this and let her out.

Hook, on the other hand, found the cell amazingly clean and was just going to enjoy himself.

He hummed to himself and made sure that his clothes weren't getting dirty. He was even polishing his own boots. With spit, of course.

There wasn't a chance for the cells to get dirty, unfortunately. Well, unless Hook stayed there much longer...

"Right, have we learned our lesson about the law on the island?" Vimes asked. Pirates. He missed when they weren't part of his jurisdiction.

"I'm sorry, I'm still a little unsure on that point," Hook said with an innocent look. "After all, two consenting adults doing what adults do isn't normally under the jurisdiction of the law."

Vimes was just going to repress the image that came to mind before it shattered his sanity.

"Attempted disturbance of the peace and annoying Sergeant Angua tend to be under our jurisdiction, actually."

"Well then, I suppose I have learned my lesson, then," Hook said.

Referring to not annoying Sergeant Angua, mainly. At least, not until he had a crew.

"Bad form on my part, bad form."

Even then, Vimes favoured odds on Angua. Because really.

"There isn't much crime on the island, so we like to keep an eye on what does happen here," Vimes informed him. All friendly like.

"Oh, then I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty of each other... I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name or rank, constable," Hook said, all smile.

"Casheriff," Hook repeated, filing that away in his lexicon of 'things that will get on certain people's nerves'. "Well then, Sheriff Vimes, should I hold my wrists out for a good slap and then I'll be on my way? I do have a class to teach on the morrow."

Vimes just smiled. "You know what? I think Ralph misplaced your paperwork," he said. "Might take a while to get that sorted out."

"Ah, that's how we're playing it," Hook said, settling in to the cell. "I'm an old man, sheriff. And I see you plan to become one as well. Paperwork, indeed."

"We'll get back to you when it's found," Vimes replied, the same amount of false cheer one might find on a clown as he strolled away. Eeesh. Clowns.

Hook decided that if this was the game they were playing, he'd play it well.

And that's when the off-tune, boisterous rendition of 'What do you do with a drunken sailor' started.
