He reaches over and rubs gentle circles on her back. Not invading her space, but he just can't leave her hanging out there like that.
Quietly he tries to explain. "I was just talking to her, Lana. Seriously. That was all. Even if she'd asked - which she hadn't - I wouldn't have gone home with her or anything."
"I know," she manages. "I know you would never do that to me. I just... I don't know what happened. This is so completely not like me." She gives up and sits down on the grass, burying her face in her hands.
"I don't even know who she is. She said she's not a student here. Must be someone's neice or something. Hell, she told you her name before she even told me!" Shep's carefully pulling her around to try and see if she'll let him hug her yet.
