Given the... diversity... of the auditions he had received on Wednesday, Genesis was in a fine mood as he picked idly through his scripts today. He smirked a bit, wondering at what reactions they would get upon seeing his chosen script for the play. Everything, of course, was already set up.

Jack meandered into the theater. "There is food and drink available?" he asked hopefully.

That part of the sign had stood out to him. Casting for a play...less so.

Genesis smoothly closed the script he'd been rereading and glanced at the man.

... And resisted the urge to sigh. What was he wearing?

"For those who wish to tryout for the play, yes," Genesis said smoothly. "Would you be interested in that?"

"It depends," Jack decided after a moment of thought. "Is it very good food and drink?"

"I've had no complaints," he replied, smirking slightly.

"Then, yes, I would love to try out for your play," Jack declared. "What shall I do? I have an excellent singing voice."

"Have you any experience acting?" he asked, not expecting anything but, as always, interested in the answer.

"I've impersonated members of both the Royal British Navy and the clergy of the Church of England," Jack told him proudly, leaving out the bit about how those had been not exactly for sport (though it had been terrific fun at the time, too), "and I've been told that I'm quite a fine liar."

"Colorful," he replied, glancing at the script he'd picked up and flipping it open to a particular page. "Can you handle something more subdued?" he asked, as he offered the script to the man. "Up on the stage, if you would."

Hmm...

He'd had better. But to be entirely fair, he'd also had much worse.

"Why would he be gesturing so expansively?" Genesis asked, wondering if the man--he'd have to get his name at some point. "The character in this situation."

"What's life without a bit of drama, mate?" Jack drawled. "If you're going to be telling someone who may or may not have asked in the first place about your love life, you could at least give them something interesting to focus their eyes on so they look like they're paying attention."

"It's Genesis," he replied, not particularly caring for 'mate'. "Do you not think a friend would ask?"

"What, 'your wife's dying and ye don't seem that upset?'" Jack shrugged. "I wouldn't, but then the only poor bastard I know who's married is also dead."
