Strawberry Social - The Park, all day

Vida had been busy since early that morning, setting up the park to be perfect for the Strawberry Social. Fortunately, the park was bug free, but she had music playing to drown the sounds of Celine Dion from nearby residences. Said music tended toward the pop side, bouncy and happy, with a side of disco. Drake had nothing to do with that, really

"This is a wonderful event," Irulan said, smiling. "And you're hat is wonderful!"

Vida beamed and patted her feathers. "Why thank you, sweet pea," she said. "I do adore my hats. And yours is fabulous as well!"

"They all came to life a few weeks ago," Vida said. "And it was absolutely no shock that they were all delightful ladies who enjoyed their tea. We had a wonderful afternoon together."

Dinah had to come by and say good-bye to Miss Vida, who'd really been an awesome boss for a year. "Hi Miss Vida. Loving the hat."

"Sweet pea!" Vida said, delighted to see Dinah. "I've missed you around the shop." She opened her arms for a hug.

Dinah laughed, careful not to knock the hat sideways, and moved into the hug. "This is an awesome social. I'm glad you gave it, after all those times we wrote notes about a party for the shop."

"I must admit I stole the idea from a quaint little town in the midwest that I visited a year ago," Vida said, hugging her back. "But it seemed our fair island deserved something fun and relaxing for a change."

"Definitely," Dinah admitted with a sigh. "All the stuff from last week, people need a party." She grinned. "I'm not going to miss the invasions as much, but the parties? Definitely."

"I missed much of that, for which I am extremely grateful," Vida sighed. "One moment I was spraying cans of Raid like mad to keep those awful cockroaches out, the next they were gone and it was two days later."

"So you're one of the people who just disappeared? You didn't end up in some radioactive wasteland?" Dinah smiled in relief. "I'm glad. That happened to the teacher I'm TA'ing for too. If you weren't *here*, I'm glad you missed the whole thing."
