For the first time, it was Jak who took the first talking shift. "Hey, guys. We're in the shooting range for a reason," he said, nodding at the... well, the scenery behind him. "Some of you probably haven't used a gun before. Some of you haven't had enough practice. So we're getting some practice in today. If you don't know what you're doing, me

Words like 'versatile' weren't in his vocabulary, but just pretend he used it.
"This is the Blaster barrel," he said, holding up a yellow, round object. He pressed it into place on the Morph Gun, and suddenly it extended, becoming a lot more gunlike in shape with a yellow bent to it. Just go with it. "It's good for the long range. So."
He poked at the barrel. "Check nothing's in it," he said, "Plant your feet like you belong here," which he did, settling into firing stance, "Keep your finger off the trigger until you've got your aim just right ( ... )

1. Always treat the gun as loaded.
2. Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
3. Always keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
4. Always keep the gun unloaded until you are ready to use it.
5. Never point the gun at anything you don't intend to destroy.
6. Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
7. Learn the mechanical and handling characteristics of the gun you are using.
8. Always use proper Ammunition.
9. Be sure the barrel is clear of obstructions before loading and shooting.
10. If your gun fails to fire when the trigger is pulled, hold your shooting position for several seconds; then with the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, carefully unload the gun.
11. Don't rely on the gun's safety to keep it from firing.
12. Be aware of your surroundings when handling guns so you don't trip or lose your balance and accidentally point and/or fire the gun at anyone or anything.

She opted to give a sniper rifle a try after that, if only because what little experience she'd had with them was a few minutes grabbed here and there with some of Page's commandos on that last infiltration of Coruscant. Her aim was decent enough that she might be passable at this with some work, but . . . well, she doubted she had the temperament for it, and the Yuuzhan Vong warrior in her found the entire concept somewhat dishonorable.
She was working on that part.

And feeling really tiny in the Mayor's presence. Whoa.

Zack looked maybe a little impressed as he walked up to the mayor with a nod hello.
"Thanks for letting us do this," he began. "This will go a long way in seeing to it that people don't get caught off-guard in a bad situation with a weapon they're not familiar with."
Zack didn't think that he'd ever need to fire a gun, nah. Not with that sword of his. But, you know. Other people.
[For great SP? I kinda had to. HI CABLE.]

He'd trained his own bunch of angry youngsters back in his time. The fact they hadn't blown each other up in a year's worth of being a militia was interesting enough.
