Kate wasn't doing anything particularly interesting, either. She was just strolling through the park with a cup of takeaway coffee in hand when whe happened to come across the boy and the dogs.
"Liir! And Makejoy, and..." She paused, and raised an eyebrow. "Is that Joan's dog?"
She might notice a few tweaks, a few changes. His skin was tanned a little darker, his hair was... no, about the same, but his back was straighter and he definitely seemed more present. Firmer in his skin.
"Kate, hello," he said with a quick bow of his head. Makejoy of course went over to greet her properly, as did Anahata.
"And yes. I'm watching her as Joan is on her trip."
Both dogs got petted and scritched behind ears and all that good stuff - one at a time, unfortunately, because no one wanted to get hot coffee on themselves - while Kate smirked at Liir.
"Oh, yeah, the trip that almost makes me weep with envy. She promised postcards."
She sank down to her knees next to him on the grass, then flopped down to sit, stretching her legs out and crossing them at the ankle. "Yeah, I noticed you weren't around."
Much like she noticed the changes in his appearance now that she turned to him. She wasn't going to say anything about that, though. Not straight away, anyway.
"No one offered to cook for me when you weren't here," she said, smirking wryly, before shrugging. "Eh, I've been okay. Same as always. Drama and weirdness with some classes thrown in."
"I don't think I've really adjusted to Fandom since coming here," Kate mused. "But really, all odd stuff here is kinda usual." She glanced down at her cup of coffee, and added idly, "Back home, too, really."
Wow, she should probably call home again one of these days. But she shook that thought away to raise an eyebrow at him.
"So, no stoves in Oz, or were you just running too hard to use them?"

"Though I don't really envy her the trip. I did quite enough traveling of late."

"Really? And I thought myself such a homebody."
He ruffled Makejoy's neck, then did the same for Anahata.
"How've you been while I was running all across Oz like a madman?"

He smiled at her.
"I'm glad you're well. And I'll have to cook something sometime soon. I've missed stoves."
